We used to go to Winchester farmer’s market every month, but other commitments have prevented us from going for a number of years. The market used to take up the whole of the central car park. Now it is Significantly smaller with stalls in the main high street. Several bakers, a couple of cheese stalls, some meat, quite a few plants and herbs and a few others stalls. To be honest we bought little and were there for no more than half an hour. The fish stall was particularly disappointing, with the fish looking far from fresh. It is little different to any other market these days and not as good as some. It used to be the best.

Free parking in the centre of Winchester must be a plus on a Sunday.
Not as many stalls as expected-- the weather was bad. The produce from the sellers was excellent though. I had a wonderful morning.

Went for the second time in a couple of years to the Xmas market around the cathedral. I wasn't impressed.
If you are not very ambulant the site is difficult, there are steep kerbs' to almost all the stalls on the "lower level" ,except those selling food and drink !!! The pavement areas have stones embedded in large areas making walking difficult. I found the stalls repetitive.
On the upside.... The band of young musicians who played at lunchtime helped to improve the day! Can I suggest a flatter venue in future??

Traveled 120 miles to visit the Farmers Market and Xmas Market in Winchester. Farmers market consisted of approx. 20 stalls with the majority selling cheese or meat pies. Very limited choice. Not worth the effort.

Free parking in the centre of Winchester on a Sunday which is very near to the market, just a short walk. Variety of stalls with produce ranging from meats, veg, fruits to special cheeses etc. Very good prices & excellent quality, stall holders friendly. Choose a dry day to go though as no shelter!

Visiting Winchester and saw details about Farmers Market, wasn't sure what to expect but so pleased that I went. Firstly, free parking on Sunday in Winchester, (Thats a bonus). Secondly, the value for money on all meats is great. The veg is huge, home grown & best flavour. Some stalls had meat cooked to try and the cheese stalls had samples so could try stronger flavours which were fantastic. Bought loads of varieties. I am planning to go again soon but will be taking a cool box for the meats to stock up. examples of whats available is Vension, buffalo steaks, breads, pies, veg, cheeses and plenty more.

Had been told by other bloggers this was the biggest farmers market in England. If that’s the case, it’s really disappointing. We have much bigger in Christchurch. Lovely food from local producers but smaller than expected. It’s outside as well so choose a fine day.

We got to Winchester early and was able to walk around whilst most stalls were setting up. The stall owners were very friendly and had excellent produce. As they morning went on the place really started jumping and it had a great atmosphere.
