Tours run by the school at limited times, with limited access to some parts, but all major section are covered.

We visited Winchester College and enjoyed the tour which was conducted by SUzanne, the Deputy Librarian. The tour lasts about an hour during which time we saw the dining room, cloisters, one of the original classrooms and the chapel. Suzanne was extremely informative and made the tour very interesting. It is incredible to hear the history of the school and... More

For £7.00 (£6.50 with leaflet voucher) we had the most enjoyable look behind the scenes of this very old college. Not only its history but the quirky practices currently adhered to. This is not to be missed. The guide was excellent and responded and invited questions particularly about the school today. Thoroughly enjoyable. In addition building work will be finalised... More

You can only visit the college with a guide. The tour costs £ 7. Again, this is quite a lot of money. The tourist map from the tourist office includes a 50 p off coupon. It might have been a good idea to use it. I walked past the college at 15:23 UKT on a Friday. I saw the guide... More

Vicky showed us around explaining all the details, showing where the brewery used to be (still not sure if exam results improved after they were no longer allowed to serve the students a litre and a half of ale each day), explaining about the heating being added to the top dorms as late as 1987 (some cold winters until then).... In order to see inside the walls of this school it may be necessary to buy a ticket on one of the guided tours provided most days. This is the oldest continuously operating school in England (and hence in much of the world!). It has a 'new' Chapel, as well as an 'old' one, a dining room used for Harry... More

Some fabulous buildings with some fascinating histories. Would like to see classrooms or dorms to get a sense of what current school is like. Guide was fun and informative. So although the amount you see is relatively limited it is well worth a visit

I lived in Winchester for a while but only recently found out that they do tours of the college. The guide was very knowledgeable and grounds amazing, especially on a sunny day. It was only 2 people on the tour. I recommend going on workdays as its nice to be part of a small tour. Most of grounds are suitable... More

Looking at this impressive building is a wonderful illustration of how impressive and laden with majesty the history of England is. This location has been used for multiple films and television programmes over the years also, which is a further endorsement to how beautiful it is.
