Organisation and staff.
I have used this pub for years but this was my first visit in Covid times. I wanted a venue to meet with friends for a pre christmas lunch and beers. The organisation, logistics, staff attitude and quality of outdoor meeting was of the very highest quality.
I could not fsult them and would highly recommend a visit....wrap up warm and take advatage of the brilliant outdoor area with heater and lights...superb.

with only 20 hours notice the cote brasserie let us down by moving our booking. with a quick ring round and some favours asked the queen inn was able to seat a party of 10 at very short notice even though they where understaffed ..for this i will forever thank them , the waiter service was fantastic and the food was second to none , all of the staff where very helpful and nothing was to much trouble nothing was rushed and at a leisurely pace the 3 courses and plenty of wine and beer where consumed the rest of my party said what a great time they had ,, well done the queen inn

Located on the outskirts of Winchester is the Queens Inn, a 10 minute walk from the cathedral. It is cosy inside and has lots of seating outside both at the front and the rear of the pub.
We have been for drinks and a Sunday roast. The service is prompt and the food was good. The pub has it's own microbrewery so you tend to get a range of unusual beers as well as the well known brands. Definitely worth the walk.

Decent pub, which has recently spent a lot on converting to a Covid-compatible layout, with lots of outdoor seating. Midweek lunchtime - the service was good, the food on the whole was average pub grub. I had a white sandwich made with cut white bread. My husband had a reasonable burger and chips. My grandson had the veggie platter, which promised "beer breads"(plural) on the menu, and felafels, but only one beer bread materialised and there were NO falafels at all! Not good enough.

Went for a Sunday roast a couple of weeks ago, after reading trip advisor reviews thought it would be very good. I think the chef had taken the afternoon off and left the cleaner in charge. the vegetables were almost inedible, they were rock hard as if they had been shown boiling water but not allowed in, only a small amount of watery gravy was on the dinner. I was hoping for someone to ask during the meal if everything was okay but no one did, no one even came near the table, and after the meal they cleaned the plates away not asking if everything was okay! Wont be having a roast here again!

Had a lovely Christmas meal there yesterday with a group of friends. The food was wonderful - for the vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners in our party. Very friendly and helpful staff. We'll definitely be coming back.

Had an outstanding Christmas meal at the pub. Best yet, big portions of great quality food. Recommend a visit if you're looking for a meal, drinks and an atmosphere.

I live just around the corner so go there often. Great food beer and atmosphere. Just a couple of minutes walk from the Wykeham Arms (also a very good pub) but worth the slight detour away from the very centre of the city.

We have travelled north from Southampton on the M3 several times and the service station options are dire - two in succession with only McDonald's and Greggs. So we took a risk and dived off the motorway at the Winchester City Centre turnoff. Saw a sign almost immediately for this pub, and arrived in a few minutes. Really excellent food. Highly recommended.
Daughter's comment (9yo): The waitresses are really friendly and the food was great.

We stayed for 2 nights in Winchester & this pub was close to our accomodation so we thought we'd give it a try. We walked in to a semi crowded bar & were quickly greeted by the staff behind the bar. Got some drinks & a menu & sat out in the beer garden on a lovely mild evening. The drinks were great & the food was of an excellent standard. The beer garden was very pleasant to sit in. The whole place has a great atmosphere plus the staff were very friendly & helpful. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next night. A lovely experience for us before we left the UK!
