Wandered up to the top of town, through the West Gate and found beautiful stone building of the Hampshire County Hall into the Great Hall and through a small door to a little garden. On the wall a " Round Table" and upstairs various portraits and a little shop. Free with a voluntary contribution.

This is only the second time I have visited the Great Hall in Winchester and there were still lots of interesting facts that I hadn't picked up before. The Round Table on the wall is just full of history and the Gates into the Law courts have a history to themselves. I hadn't realised this place was used as the... More

Winchester is a great little town and not limited to just the castle and the great Hall. I noticed a few other military museums behind the Great Hall that I'm hoping to visit the next time I get over here. Obviously the main drawcard for the Great Hall is the "round table" but the history behind the hall and the... More

Fantastic. Round table is on the wall! Interesting historical fiction. We visited Winchester by taking the train to the center of this town. After a short mostly uphill walk, we arrived at the Great Hall at Winchester Castle. Fantastic docent. So interesting and the round table so big and colorful. I can just imagine how the history and fiction all... More

Fantastic coat of arms displays on the stain-glassed windows gives a colourful definition of historical rulers. Information about the Hall put a handle on the events that took place there.

We took our son to visit Father Christmas for the first time in December 2016, and wanted to ensure he had a positive experience. We chose well by visiting him at the Great Hall. Included in the ticket price was a hot chocolate and gift from the big man (a lovely quality wooden toy). The Hall was a lovely setting... More

Located close to Winchester railway station, the Great Hall is the sole surviving part of the medieval Winchester Castle - the rest of it was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in the Civil War. The most notable features are the impressive replica of King Arthur's Round Table, which was built in c. 1290 by Edward I and then painted 250 years... More

Another must see in Winchester. A place so full of history and familiar names from over the centuries. Displays bring it alive and you can get to dress up in period costume. Please leave a donation to maintain this wonderful historic building for future generations to enjoy.
