I absolutely loved this tour! I've been living in Southampton for a few months and passed by many sites on this tour not knowing their significance. The knowledge I learned on this tour added to the beauty of the city I now live in, and sheds light onto the importance of history. Our guide Katie was very cheerful and informative, she was attentive to all our needs and was very interactive with the group.
The tour ended with a lovely afternoon tea, and who doesn't love a good cup of tea and cake! loved every moment of this outing! I intend to register on the other offered tours!

Katie has a treasure chest of information about the history of Southampton! The Walking Tour of Medieval Southampton was so interesting with so many surprises! I was amazed to hear so much about the walled city and the famous people who lived in Southampton many centuries ago. Often we walk around with blinkers on not realizing the history of the walls/buildings which have stood for centuries. Thanks Katie for an incredible walk back in time.

Having happened to spot the See Southampton Walking Tour poster by the Bargate, I am so glad we arranged to take a tour with Jack yesterday. He was immensely knowledgeable and I particularly enjoyed the access to the usually restricted areas such as the different vaults and Catchcold Tower. He was also very accommodating to a member of our group with a mobility scooter, and the pace of the tour was an enjoyable stroll that covered so many aspects of the city walls and history. Highly, highly recommended and our £7 tickets gave 20% off other museums including the Tudor Merchant's House.

Hi Laura
Many thanks for your comments. These tours are made by the participants - and you were a lovely crowd - cheerful, interested and enquiring - and everyone happy to accomodate the lady with limited mobility. I loved every minute - and that's genuine! Jack

After 38 years of living in Southampton, I finally got around to Walking The Walls. I felt a bit sad that I was the only visitor on the tour. I guess this was just a bad day. My guide, Jack, was very knowledgeable, and happy to be sharing his interest in our lovely city, which he supported with very old sketches and pictures. There is so much to take and it was fun imagining what life might have been like. I have a few local history books of Southampton but there is nothing being given the information by an experienced guide.
It's not suitable for those with mobility issues and I would recommend comfortable shoes. Thank you very much for the opportunity.

Incredible historic part of Southampton. I’ve lived in the city for nearly 40 years and still get shown things or places I’ve never seen! The wine tasting was excellent too. Shall be going again.

The tour took around 1h45 starting in the Bargate and finishing by the Dancing Man pub. Katie, guided us through the medieval town walls explaining the respective history and showing places usually closed to public... the famous vaults! As a Southampton resident I was surprised with the amount of things that I never noticed! Very well spent morning!

Katie gave us a lively 90 mins tour including walking the old City Walls. She is so articulate with an exceptional knowledge of the history which she brings to life. You can feel her great love of her city. Highlights include visiting an old wine vault and learning that Shakespeare wrote a few of his famous plays when living here and Jane Austen lived here too!

We went on a 2-hour long tour around the old town of Southampton with Katie. Doing the tour by riding e-bikes was amazing as we could cover a much larger area during that time. Katie was very kind and knowledgeable. After living in the city for 5 years I was amazed at how much we learned about those places, buildings, and streets we pass by every day. Thanks for the brilliant tour!

It was really a fantastic walking tour. Our passionate tourist guide Katie gave us detailed and impressive explanation of every single sight including Bargate, old walls, castles, churches and gardens. This tour gave us a great opportunity to discover things hidden in the long history of this city and existing somewhere we have not realized. And it is meaningful to re-understand the city through history.

A fantastic tour. Geoffrey is very passionate about his city and regardless of the poor weather, the city was brought to life by his ability to uncover things that you would have never thought would have existed. Well worth the couple of hours.

Hi Sorry we missed answering this earlier. On Sunday the 18th August we have walks starting from the Bargate, an old Gate in the centre of the High STreet, at 10.30 and 1.30. No need to book, just turn up and pay £6 to the guide. If that doesn't suit, we can arrange a private tour for £60 at a time to suit you. Please see the seesouthampton website to make arequest (this site does not allow me to post a link)

Will be in SOU for 4 days prior to a cruise. Would like info on day tours. Already went to Stonehenge, Bath, New Forest etc. I'm looking for something, perhaps private tour to show me the "real" countryside. I could even take tours on 2 different days. Will be in SOU 24 Oct. 2017 departing on 28 Oct. 2017. Have not seen too much on your website, please advise.

See Southampton do walking tours of Southampton but we do have contacts who can take your party on a private tour by car to the many beautiful towns and villages in the Countryside around Southampton and into deepest Hampshire including rural villages complete with thatched cottages and fascinating towns which are the real England and where the coach tours do not go. The chance to see areas of outstanding natural beauty and visit antique shops and tea rooms. This would be an exclusive tour for your party for up to four people. Please let me know if you are interested. Kind regards, Godfrey Collyer
Do you have any tours that incorporate Stonehenge and other sites in addition to S.Hampton?

I'd actually message or email the business. I think this facility just asks other people who have done reviews.
