It's a great place in the city center. They are five parks that were created between 1854 and 1866 and are currently Southampton's great green lung. Rose bushes, ferns, bushes of all kinds, squirrels and many birds give it a special touch. Monuments, memorials and a beautiful fountain stand out. It has different paths to travel. It's a must.

Spent a few minutes walking around St Andrew’s Park identifying the monuments around it as well as visiting Watts Park. Especially liked the draped wisteria throughout a small passage one can walk through.

Andrew's Park (also known as East Park) is the prettiest park in Southampton and lies between Watts Park to the west and Houndwell Park to the south in Southampton's 'Central Parks' (see separate reviews).
The park is named after Richard Andrews (1796-1859) who was Mayor of Southampton 5 times and there is a statue of him here. Also located in the park is a mini-golf course, a beautiful wooden wisteria arbour and a tropical rockery with plants and exotic trees planted in the Victorian era. There used to be an exotic bird avery here to but this was demolished a few decades ago due to modern health regulations. Best of all is The Titanic Engineers Officers Memorial (see reviews) which is inset on Above Bar Street. The monument still gets floral wreaths and is lit up. The park is used as a walk way to get from the city centre to the Solent University or Jury's Inn (hotel). I would not advise walking through this park alone at night.

Between the university's this nice park has lots of various types of flowers, bushes and threes. It also has some memorials, as the Titanic Enineer Officers memorial is in the north west part of the park.

The quickest way to walk from one end of the town to the other is in a direct line from Mayflower Park or the docks, up the QE2 mile, High St and Above Bar. But a prettier way, in an oasis of green, is to walk through 5 more of Southampton's many parks that are linked by wide roads. See also Hoglands Park, Houndwell Park, Palmerston Park... Then we come to this one East Park, or formerly known as Andrew's Park, which is the prettiest and biggest in the town centre; before going on to Watts (West) Park, or visa-versa if you are heading south to the water.
Andrew's Park is named after Richard Andrews (1796-1865) who was Mayor of Southampton 5 times. It is famous for its Titanic Engineers Memorial (see listing) and its tropical rockery that was enjoyed so much by the Victorians (it used to have an exotic bird avery too until the early 1970s).
It has a beautiful wisteria arbour. Weeping willows sway beneath tall horse-chestnut trees.

Andrews East Park is just one of five very nice parks in the middle of Southampton. Others are Hoglands, Houndwell, Palmerston, Andrews East, and West (Watts) Park. You can walk through these all without knowing you're leaving one and entering another. That's what makes them so great - it's really one big park with lots of walking paths and grass areas, and a perfect recluse from the busy city center and traffic and people. VERY nice park system for walking and jogging as well.

Andrews East Park is fairly big. Pathways are wide and well lit. Maintenance clearly works, no litter in the park. Nice relaxing place to have a stroll in Southampton.

Andrews East park has well maintained gardens with some lovely plants and flowers and there is plenty of seating area. Fairly big park with a fountain. Really is a nice park to walk in. Parking near the park is an issue and expensive at £4 for 2 hours.
