Having visited city a number of times this is our first trip to the common and what a great asset for the community. Whether it is for a stroll, run, cycle or to enjoy a picnic/bbq there is room for everyone. Great green space.

On the edge of Southampton. Ideal for families. Walking, cycling, fishing. Also a lovely paddling pool for the little ones. Fitness trail, ornamental pond with plenty of ducks to feed.

Having lived very close to the common for over 40 years we have seen many changes but still love it. Except for the busiest weekends and festival days it is still possible to find seclusion and quietness here in spite of the high number of people who use it on a daily basis. The work done on the fishing lake... More

It's hard to go wrong on the common with lovely lakes and a number of walks and open spaces for bbq's etc. My favourite place to go for a run in Southampton!

Fab free day out. Nice big space for picnics, walking, running, bike rides, ball games etc. There is also a park and a couple of ponds. The Hawthorn Centre is free to enter and has quite a bit to look at, as well as a small café. Suitable for all.

Equivalent to Roundhay park in Leeds but more romantic and more trees, having smell of forest and old trees. Just put your records on, go ahead and let your hair down, this experience could be used to define a walk in the south of England.

It is rare to find a spot where nature has been allowed to stay as unspoiled as this.It is close to a busy city, yet is a haven of peace. Well visited, well maintained and beautiful.
