Lovely

Located in Southsea near the seafront. Has something for all - swan pedaloes for youngsters, The Natural History Museum, Beautiful Rose Garden for some peace and quiet, Model village and a small cracy golf - not open when we were there.

Over The Generations
Oct 2020
I remember visiting Canoe Lake with my parents years ago and it has been a constant for many years. On a sunny October morning we revisited and sat enjoying the scene with families, dog walkers, the occasional jogger etc. circulating the pond. Very busy at this time of the year with the swans and black headed gulls although there were no takers for the pedal swans. Timeless and relaxing, and the cafe was busy supplying hot drinks.

SWAN LAKE
Sep 2020
This is a lake in a park area just off the seafront with a cafe, toilets and some rather sad looking swan shaped pedalos plus a lot of real swans. It was popular with family groups with young children. If you live locally you might want to come here but it is not much of a visitor attraction.

Swan lake
Jul 2020 • Friends
Can ride Swan Pedalos £8 for 20 minutes. They were sanitising each boat between customers. Crabbing nets & buckets £2 each - cheap entertainment for few hours. Huge free play area and plenty of picnic space. Public toilets really clean & stocked with paper etc. Seems well organised after reopening.

Looking neglected
May 2020
This popular lake and park is just along from the pier. Kids enjoy crabbing, going out on a swan pedalo or messing around in one of the play parks. Plenty of grass area to sit and have a picnic plus cafe and toilet block . Up close the water is what I can only call “manky” - local council really need to get it emptied and cleaned - wouldn’t want one of my grandchildren falling in :-(. Watch out for the hordes of birds/swans/ducks - constantly on the prowl for leftover food scraps and can be a darn nuisance. Such a pity the lake in general looks so neglected.

Memories
Mar 2020
Although the weather was not very good I walked around the lake and it brought back memories of holidays spent as a child in Southsea,
There was a lady feeding the swans and she had names for most of them and they seemed to listen to her when she called their names.

Small pleasant park with a lake in the middle

Had a quick stroll around the lake (about 500m). Lots of kids feeding ducks and swans. Cafe and toilets nearby.

Busy on a hot day!
Sep 2019
As you would expect on a sunny Saturday the seaside is a popular destination for people. Canoe Lake is just a short walk from the sea front and has a huge boating lake with large "Swans" for you to pedal about on.

That's not all in the area. There is a huge children's play area, the model village, natural history museum and mini golf also in the area so you will find plenty to do if you need to burn up some energy for the journey home.

Remains a lovely family friendly area
Sep 2019
Walked through on Sunday. Lots of families enjoying the amenities and sunshine. Cafes nearby doing a good trade. All in all it’s a place which has evolved over the years but still remains a place families can take children to enjoy themselves and burn off the energy that youngsters have.
