We are members of the RHS in the UK and discovered that this garden, which was not far from where we were staying, was free for RHS members. It was inspired by Sissinghurst and was a truly wonderful experience. We had a sandwich lunch at cafe next to the river which was pricey but worth the wait.

We had a pleasant walk and look around in the parc. But please note that the parc is not really wheelchair accessible. Only small part is easy to acces

Super beautiful great maintained Parc in the Historic small village Apremont sur Allier. Big variety of plants and trees. Big plus is that you can walk everywhere on the gras offering great views on both Garden and Surroundings.

Went here by chance although it had been recommended my wife thought that due to the lateness of the season and the fact that the weather had been hot and dry for months there would be nothing to see how wrong could she be .The gardens pavillions follies lawns etc were splendid lots of colour and interesting plants at every turn thoroughly enjoyed it and the village on the banks off the Allier river was delightful with benches so you could just sit and watch the river gently flow past Bliss

We enjoyed very much the gardens, which are spectacular, particularly when all around there is evidence of a drought. Literally, a gasp when going though the gates onto remarkable layouts of flowers and trees. The three "Follies" among the gardens are charming. The bicycle exhibition, "200 Years on Two Wheels" was informative and interesting; it is set in the historic horse stables, which was charming in itself. This was a delightful afternoon.

This garden has lots of wonderful flowers and the "Folly Structures" to explore. It is a quiet place with few visitors, so a nice place to relax. We had difficulty finding the entrance, which was through the floral shop (we did not understand that when we purchased our tickets). We also had some problems leaving. There were signs saying to leave through the restaurant or antique shop, but both were closed. We finally got out when some people who lived there came in through a limited access gate.

Before we headed off on our barge tour, the owners wife took us to view these beautiful grounds and gardens in a tiny historic village where most of the houses are used as holiday homes. I thought it rivalled Sissinghurst in England.
The large specimen trees were a blessing on such a hot day and the gardens were stunningly beautiful. Was a fantastic introduction to a small corner of France. Loved everything about it, just magic.

Found this beautiful garden in our RHS handbook - (RHS members get in for free!) It is part of one of the Beau Villages de France and rightly so, nestling on the banks of the River Allier and close to the confluance of the Loire, the houses and streets are almost in a time warp under the watchful eye of the chateaux perched on the hill above.
The gardens in the floral park are worthy of 5* alone and can hold thier own with the best on offer in the UK - herbaceous borders, sweeping lawns, lakes and waterfalls, well labelled plants and best of all; it's off the tourist track and was, at least when we were there early June, uncrowded and unhurried - although bizarrely they do close for lunch - maybe a ploy to send you to the local restaurant or maybe a picnic on the banks of the river. Not to be missed.

This lovely mature garden that was only created in the 1970s by the talented Gilles De Brissac is fantastic. I would highly recommend a detour if you are near the centre of France.
