Popped in to see a friend, pub was really busy for a chutney competition. Eventually got served, 1/2 pint of coke in a flimsey plastic cup and a pork pie, no plate or trimmings, just a pork pie, £4.50!! Pub seemed like a good place...More

A lovely little pub, very traditional and typical decor; decent food; great local beers; an all round winner. On a sunny day the enclosed beer garden is fantastic for containing children whilst you drink your parental woes away!

I've been all over England and in a lot of pubs. The atmosphere in this pub is one of the best I've experienced. Everyone, especially the landlord, is so friendly, and the locals are so interesting, and I don't mean "interesting" in a kooky way....More

We had friends up from Bristol and came to the Crown and Sceptre on recommendation. We booked a table for 4 as we were warned that it would get busy. By one o'clock all the tables were taken so this was good advice. The pub...More

Had an amazing vegetarian meal here while my husband tucked into lamb shank. Really was fantastic grub. Worth a visit although tucked away, it is well worth finding.

This pub is simply brilliant, a genuine community pub where Rodda the landlord keeps superb ale, cooks great food, puts on a fine band and you will find an eclectic mix of patrons, it's a very easy going place with eccentrics, musicians, hippies mixing with...More

This hidden gem is simply the best all round pub in Stroud if not Gloucestershire. The landlord has managed to strike the balance of a good old fashioned English pub where you can get a really good pint and a top notch meal. They offer...More

This was probably my bestest pub experience I ever had, being greeted by the publican and made genuinely welcome, sitting by the fire and enjoying the home like atmosphere of a pub at its very best. A real community pub. On Tuesdays there's a knitting...More
