The Golden Fleece, a freehouse steeped in Stroud's heritage, is a popular destination for real ale connoisseurs and is renowned for it's gourmet bar snacks, including some of the finest, home-made burgers Stroud can offer. Reopened in August 2015, the Golden Fleece is freshly renovated, in-keeping with the style of the 18th Century building. In the winter months, our log burger provides warmth and ambiance to our wood panelled front bar. In warmer weather, our beer garden is a hidden gem of Stroud and can be quite a sun trap. Known to some as "The Jazz Bar", through the years The Golden Fleece has acquired reputation for music of eclectic style and origin. We continue this trend to this day with regular live music nights.

This is our local pub but we rarely visit and I don’t really know why. We popped in for an early evening drink and headed out to the garden which was basking in sunshine with barely a table free. Lovely atmosphere and great staff.

I've only been once, but I don't think I've ever come across such a friendly pup. Fire on, strangers all chatting, not at all cliquey. Would have been easier to move out of Stroud if I'd know of this place's existence!

Loved this place. Relaxed, good beer, real log fire, locals and atmosphere. Candles on the tables. Recommended.

Popped in for a pint on my way home from the Stroud Fringe and although the pint was good the whole place smelled of damp dish rag. Not a good atmosphere.

Lovely little pub, serving really good selection of ales, beer and lagers. Friendly atmosphere and a bit of a Tardis really, as the garden out the back is pretty big. Food is available, though not the biggest menu in the world, it is still tasty....More

Our first visit on a cold Monday. Positives - good range of beers and well lit. Negatives - disengaged barman and a bit snooty. Cold room. Food bits on the tables. It's a fair attempt at a young and hip bar but in reality it...More

I came here for a friends bday drinks and ended up having a really nice time. Friendly, well designed bar and great burgers! Will definitely be back here next time I'm in Stroud. 5 stars and really recommend you stop in!
