Starting in the pretty Cotswold market town of Painswick, the southern section of this National Trail follows the ridge of the Cotswold escarpment through delightfully undulating countryside and picturesque villages to Bath. I was looking forward to our visit but the garden was tired, unkempt and dull, it was also much smaller than I expected. We travelled a long way and wish we had not bothered. Other attractions in the area such as Lacock and Dyrham Park were excellent and well worth the time.

The gardens and surrounding grounds are nice and in a lovely valley, and we had a nice walk around, but they're not very big or outstanding and seemed a bit overpriced at £10 per person.

Before we visited the garden we read very good reviews so our expectations were high, therefore we were a bit disappointed to find that the garden was in need of some care and maintenance. I'm sure part of it can be blamed on covid, but I still feel that we didn't get our money's worth.

We visited here with our dog. Didnt get off to a very good start as currently there are no toilets in the garden. All they have are 2 portaloo's in the car park. The "vegetable garden" is very well kept and maintained. The maze was closed and very overgrown. The rest of the garden looked tired and desperately in need of some love and attention. No doubt Covid 19 has had its toll on the gardens and people who work there. Its a shame as it could be made to be so much more.

THe gardens are well laid out.. Could do with some weeding etc but this is probably the effect of corona virus and the attendance of volunteers.
