The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is a 12 mile steam and diesel heritage railway in the beautiful English Cotswolds. Visit the GWR stations at Toddington (postcode GL54 5DT), Winchcombe (GL54 5LD), or Cheltenham Race Course (GL50 4SH).

Free Parking, and there is so much to do in addition to riding on the heritage trains. There are authentic Great Western Railway stations and well-stocked shops. Catering options include the buffet car on the train, the Flag & Whistle Restaurant at Toddington Station and the 1950s themed Coffee Pot cafe at Winchcombe Station. There is a model railway coach and the Discovery Coach at Winchcombe Station, whilst at Toddington there is a self-guided heritage trail, a children’s play area, a have-a-go signalbox and a locomotive yard viewing area.

Check out our website to see the operating days, the train times and the range of this year's special events, both for enthusiasts and for children.

Riding on steam trains from Cheltenham Racecourse station, some 15 miles to Toddington & Laverton stations, is a real experience of fun & nostalgia. The railway stations and rolling stock are beautifully restored, and of course rolling through the Cotswolds scenery is wonderful. There is also a narrow-gauge railway at Toddington to experience. It won't be long before the main... More

Not just wonderful old engines, but wonderful volunteers. Even the RAIL ALE, in the buffet car was good. If only they could get some shuttle bus going from Cheltenham Town Centre, to their station.

We have been on this train four times now, and still the kids get excited! Love the oldie trains. It can get a little tedious, however enjoyable for the kids :) Great half day out. When the train stops at the other end you can get off the train and have a stroll, there's a ice cream van close by.... More

Took part in the Wartime in the Cotswold weekend. Went from The Racecourse Station to Toddington. What a huge effort all of the volunteers put in (apparently there are only 2 paid workers in total, the rest are volunteers). There were attractions galore - so much to do, with the main emphasis on entertainment. The weekend was the huge success... More

Wartime in the Cotswolds was a fantastic day out, travelling from Toddington , Gotherington, Winchecombe through to Cheltenham with each station transported back to 1930 wartime. My elderly father (84) ex army was in his element . We ate at the Flag&Whistle cafe which was very good, excellent service and friendly staff. The whole day was thoroughly enjoyable and great... We visited the 1940s weekend event (Sunday), we had such a great time last year we wanted to enjoy it all over again. They were 6 of us, me, hubby, daughter, son-in-law and our two grandsons (ages 4 and 1). We began with the steam train to Winchcombe, hopped on the vintage bus for ride and back, enjoyed looking at... More

We had a fantastic day out on Easter Sunday at the GWR steam railway. The tickets were reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the line has been restored in really good condition. We ate in the Flag and Whistle café at Toddington station and whilst we note that other reviewers have complained about the wait for... More

This really is Gods Wonderful (Steam) Railway. The amazing thing is that apart from three full time employees the whole operation is staffed by volunteers. The trained run to rime through beautiful countryside in clean and well maintained vintage rolling stock. Food facilities and railway memorabilia abound something for all the family.
