I went with my girlfriend on a Saturday evening, the staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was amazing, you have to try the spinach and lamb together ‘taste sensation’! We had 5 dishes between us, which was about right,...More

Cendrillon. The name does not trip lightly off my tongue, but this production of Massinet's opera, premiered in 1899, will remain long in my memory. An energetic, fluid and bravely conceived production with a range of wonderful voices, complemented by dreamy choreography against changes of...More

On our previous visit to Glyndebourne back in June (where the opera and setting were, of course, wonderful) we were horribly disappointed with Leith's catering. But dinner in August was a way happier experience. OK, so the scones at teatime were fine rather than excellent,...More

Beautiful architecture , stunning landscape , sustainable business and world class opera - this place is a feast for the senses. Looking forward to brightening up the miserable October & November months with music .

This private estate bills a season of operas each year. We are regular opera goers and once a year on our anniversary we see an opera that is a treat, so this year as we are not away we got tickets for Glyndebourne. We brought...More

Everything about this event is just wonderful. Everyone is dressed up and a lot of us chose to enjoy a picnic in the beautiful grounds. The particular Opera that we saw this year wasn’t my favourite by far - but you still cannot help but...More

The is the second year I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy opera at Glyndebourne; and, three times this summer, I’ve had the pleasure of eating at Middle & Over Wallop (Glyndebourne’s ‘fine dining’ restaurant, operated by Leith’s). The food is of consistently very high standard,...More

Glyndebourne 'matinee' - dress code (3 Replies)
Does anybody know if the 'black tie' dress code applies to matinee performances? We are attending a performance in October at Glyndebourne which starts at 4pm....unsure whether to dress 'smart-casual' or go the whole hog!

In October the touring opera is not as fancy as the regular season. I wear a long gown during the regular season but scale back to a cocktail dress (with husband in suit and tie) for the touring season. I have seen people in jeans at touring season operas. But why not dress up? It is Glyndebourne after all! Also, the restaurant food is more casual during the touring season...more a buffet than a seated and served meal. We picnicked last October and got lucky with the weather.
horse riding on the beach / water sports near Hastings? (1 Replies)
Hi I'm trying to find a really good stable that offers horse riding on the beach. I'll be staying near Glyndebourne and then near Heathfield, both in East Sussex. My level of experience is reasonably good, if a bit rusty, and I'm longing to experience horse riding on the beach! Any recommendations? Also recommendations for other water sports in the area would be appreciated. I don't want to drive more than 90 minutes to reach it.

How To Glyndebourne properly! (5 Replies)
Hello Trip Advisors! My sister mentioned that she would like to go to see an opera at Glyndebourne for the full glamourous experience (plus she loves opera). She talked about a picnic dinner or tea with little tables that "they" will put out for you - dressed in evening attire. In reading the boards - it seems like there are restaurants to go to instead (or if it rains). Can someone describe the perfect day/evening/overnight for a performance for me please? As the official trip planner, I...More
