First visit was to research our family history. Little did we know we would actually meet a new member of our family. The information we needed on Old Hastings and the fishing families was all there. Nothing ws too much trouble as information was printed off for us. Books and pamphlets were available to buy at reasonable prices.

We came across this in a lovely part of the town and popped in. I am so glad we did. There are fascinating things to look at, plentiful books to buy and very well informed volunteers. I was planning to visit the grave of an ancestor and thought that we would spend ages searching for it. The gentleman in the... More

Nice little place for when the British weather does its usual trick. Good to keep dry and exercise the brain whilst you're about it too.

Free entry, and the lower ground floor of this building. Not a lot to see or do! There is no way they can charge for this.... Even free, it isn't worth visiting.

Excellent example of local history at work. The history of Hastings present in a historic building in a historic setting. Couldn't be better! Find out about the prehistoric Hastings - and what Hastings was all about before the Normans. Very interesting displays and artefacts - and it's all free!

Visited the History House whilst wandering around the Old Town and realised it was a very interesting place tucked away. The May Day celebrations had recently finished and so most of the info was relating to that. Staff were friendly and ready for a chat and to give any information requested.

A group of volunteers run this small but informative establishment. Informative, friendly, excellent displays, and won't cost you a penny leaving you plenty of change to buy a book, guide, or memento of your visit which I would encourage you to do, as it helps fund the establishment..

Run by volunteers who are always helpful, the history house has ever changing exhibitions and events. It is closely associated with and overseen by The Old Hastings Preservation Society and is a very useful place to get information about the history of Hastings and the Old Town in particular.
