Winner of the Chortle Award for Best Comedy Venue (South) in 2023 and Winner of Best Venue in the South a record 17 times. Brighton's premier live entertainment venue presents one of the largest, most diverse arts and entertainment programmes in the UK. Every year we put on around 700 performances of comedy, music, cabaret and kids shows. We're also home to several of Brighton's most popular club nights. All taking place under one roof, Komedia incorporates two exciting, unique performance spaces with flexible set-ups and a kitchen serving freshly prepared food at most seated shows. Our programme includes a unique range of Komedia-grown resident shows such as the Komedia Comedy Club, Comic Boom, Bent Double, Down the Hatch and The Nest Comedy Club.

Only 8 minutes walk from Brighton station, the admission is very efficient. I went there for a music gig. The room is comfortably large , with an easily accessible bar and toilets.Bar service is ultra efficient and friendly. I particularly liked the £1 refundable deposit on the plastic glasses, which cuts down on the sea of plastic cups you find in some venues. The stage is easily visible. The sound level and quality is top-notch. There is even a free rail to hang your coat. Drinks were quite expensive but it's worth it for a very enjoyable night out. There is limited seating at the sides, which is first come , first served, but the view is better from the floor. There are also two TV monitors either side of the stage relaying the performance , which is unusual for a small venue.
Highly recommended.

Fab venue for two or a group

I wasn't sur what to expect having never gone to any of these before. I have been to shows but not to these small venues.
I was pleasantly surprised, upon arrival you had doormen who directed you to the entrance and politely informing you of their no heckling policy.. Not really an issue as this could spoil it for everyone else so glad they tell everyone about it.
We were sat right at the front !! not quite where we wanted to be but the place was packed.
We arrived early and got some drinks, we never had food as we had eaten elsewhere, the place was a good size, tables close together but not rammed. It was all in good order and looked a comfy place to come even to eat also.
The MC was fab, as usual picked out every one on the front row as well as a few others sitting behind. If there are only two of you, you may wish to book ahead and book seating away from the stage if you do not want to be involved although it was all light hearted stuff.
The evening was thoroughly enjoying, the acts all good and we would most definitely come back again, it was just my wife and I but we have already spoken to friends to come with us later in the year again.
Overall it was all very warm and welcoming and the very busy but not rammed in like sardines. Definitely worth going back again and again !!

Fun thing to do an a Friday night

Fun place to go out on a Friday night. I enjoyed my time at Komedia. The drink and food selection is great and I didn't have to wait too long to be served. I was sitting in the first row, got picked on, but was fun. I found it a bit too long to sit for three hours 7:30 arrival and it finished after 10pm. But would do it again it is fun to watch stand-up comedy, I think the comedians were good quality.

Venue is good. Drink prices reasonable. Staff good. BUT MUSIC VOLUME IS LIMITED! For a "night club" it's totally unacceptable that the music cuts down to half volume multiple times during a gig. If you are a promoter, please look somewhere else before booking a gig. Not suitable for fans who want to hear the music

Hello, we would like to assure you the system does not have a cut-out limiter in place, ont he night in question there was a faulty piece of hire equipment that meant the DJ occasionally lost one side of their signal due to an overheating component. Unfortunately, this was one of those exceptionally rare occasions where something goes wrong in the early hours of the morning, a replacement is not readily available, and a repair is difficult. The engineer on duty did however manage to overcome the issue with temporary measures and the issue has since been fully resolved. We recommend all customers talk to a manager on duty if their experience of an event is not as it should be, you will find them to be approachable and helpful. We would like to reiterate, there is no cut-out limiter at Komedia. Many thanks.

Bogan Bingo - Don’t Do The Brunch!

Actual event was great, I’ve been a few times now. The Komedia shouldn’t do bottomless brunch - VERY watered down drinks, poor service. Had the nerve to say the bottomless drinks had finished when they took 30 mins to bring out the first drink. I managed to get about 5 refills on the mimosas (it was only orange juice). Poor experience.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the delay in getting everyone into the venue on this occasion. We've taken customer comments on board and have now adjusted all future brunch events so that the doors open 30 minutes before the bottomless drinks begin, in order to seat all customers entering the venue. We do not water down our drinks, we encourage customers to communicate with staff at the event if they have any issues, so that we can rectify them at the time. We are glad you enjoyed the show.

Vibrant venue with lots of entertainment on offer. Komedia Comedy Club is super with a variety of wonderful acts on each week. I've been attending music gigs and comedy here for years and can definitely recommend! Super staff too!

Great fun night.....but if you are concerned about Covid dont come....

We had a super night there watching Simon Brodkin. Just paughed and laughed. Decent range of beers too and cheap cocktail jugs.

I know the manager says they do extra cleaning etc and have reduced capacity but clearly not by much. You are packed in like sardines in rows of tables, sitting inches away from strangers. We asked to move to small table at the back where not so crowded and so we were ok.

So if you are concerned about being too close to people during Covid, this isnt the place for you.

Amazing night !

Such a fun date night activity or evening with friends. The comedians are all soo hilarious and the size of the club is the perfect as you feel really immersed into the whole experience. Fab selection of drinks and the loaded fries were delicious- looking forward to my next visit!

First time but not last :)

It was our first time at Komedia and we had so much fun. Great venue, feels clean and organised without feeling uptight. Each member of staff were encountered was friendly and professional. The comedy acts were amusing, although the style of the host for me was a bit too harsh, and the atmosphere was great. Very affordable drinks and food, however i wasn't convinced of the freshness of the calimari bites but it won't be a show stopper for me, we'll be back :)

Great Christmas party

Had a fabulous night at Komedia last night for our annual Christmas party. We had a 3 course meal which was really tasty (Beef slow cooked) The service by Misty and her team was really smooth, attentive and friendly. Great comedy and great atmosphere. Can highly recommend for a great Christmas party with colleagues or friends!
