Fantastic views, fantastic seating, fantastic pub
Oct 2021 • Family
A lovely country pub with great views and old school pub aesthetics. Warm fire for the evenings and great outdoor seating for the daytime.

Great views
Oct 2021
Great views out to sea, plenty of outdoor seating.
Really good selection of well kept beers and cider.
Food limited to a selection of pies and cake.
Well worth a visit.

Fabulous pub, great views
Jun 2021
We visited this pub after a walk along the coastal path.
The staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent. The selection of drinks was great and the views from the garden stunning.

Great pub, great beer, too often awful food
May 2021
We used to live in the area and visited regularly and I'd give this place top marks for the beer and the free live music events they put on. However, I would recommend you don't buy food there on a Monday as you will get Friday/ Saturday's pasty or potato pie reheated in the microwave (and they're not that great on Saturday). That aside, the place is now extremely popular and with only the 2 serving hatches be prepared to queue, particularly at weekends and during the pumpkin festival when a 45 minute wait to get served is not unusual.

The simplest solution is usually the best
May 2021 • Couples
We called ahead to check that they were open and we were also told that they do not take bookings. We love this place and its always a treat to visit. They have got their Covid adjustments just right, sometimes the simplest way is the best. Head to the apple cart wagon to check in, complete test and trace, you get allocated a table (luckily in beautiful sunshine this day) and told a number. When your number is called it's your turn to order. Drinks arrive with a smile and you pay. Easy, and whats more just lovely. Their beers and homemade ciders are always to die for. We couldn't indulge in their homemade pasties this time but I'm sure they are as good as ever and all served with a magnificent view of course. Thank you S&C for another lovely visit.

A friendly and cheering hostelry

We are staying locally and this is our favourite pub. They have COVID restrictions just right - completely safe and very efficient! They serve beers from their own brewery and ciders locally made. The pasties are fresh and delicious, with a vegan option. Staff are friendly and helpful and everyone seems to enjoy the atmosphere. There’s even a fossil museum! Thoroughly recommended!

Chicken Attacks
Aug 2020 • Couples
The beer and food are good , but some very aggressive chickens are allowed to roam the beer garden. They pretty much attacked us and stole my wife's lunch. Use only if necessary.

Nov 2019
We love this pub, no fuss no frills, good customer service an excellent selection of cider just up my street and a home made pasty to soak it up with.
