A great start to the Summer

I have just completed the weeks residential camp for my Gold DofE. Having just got home from an action packed week of paddle boarding, climbing, walking and other great activities, I am absolutely shattered. Upon reflection whilst describing the week to my parents all I can come up with is great experiences and stories about the week away. My biggest fear was making new friends however from the start everybody was really easy to talk to and the instructors created a welcoming and reassuring environment for the week ahead. There was a nice balance between fun activities in both the morning,afternoon and even the evening and free time to relax and get to know each other (in our case play Irish snap whenever possible). The instructor my group spent most time with was Nathan who I can only speak highly of. He was super organised, enthusiastic and fun. But as a whole the staff were all extremely helpful and accommodating. Would totally recommend to anybody looking for a fun week away but particularly this residential was great value for money for Gold DofE participants.

Fab experience def recommend

We had a kayaking experience with Mel at swanage beach and it was fab. He spoke to us individually out on the water making us feel part of the experience, told us about the area and got the kids involved aswell. The team who we spoke to are so friendly, helped with enquires and safety is their top priority. I would sooo recommend visiting land and wave if you would like to experience something different

Giant Paddleboarding Experience

Stu and Ben took us out on a family giant paddleboard experience and it was absolutely brilliant. We booked a kayaking session for 4 adults 4 kids of varying ages from 8 to 71! It was really windy on the morning when we arrived and so Stu and Ben sorted out a giant paddleboard session for us as an alternative. We had so much fun, playing games and challenges on the paddleboard together. Stu and Ben were just brilliant and bought so much energy and fun to the session. We got to spend an absolutely quality couple of hours as a family that we will never forget. I would so highly recommend Stu and Ben, such lovely, friendly, professional and fun guys, they made the session perfect and adapted to all of our needs and abilities!

Brilliant!

My husband and children decided that coasteering would be something that we would do when down in Dorset and I have to admint I wasn't overly convinced: climbing up rocks and then jumping off them didn't really sound like my thing. However, despite my initial reservations, it was brilliant! We booked a private group for 5 of us (2 adults and 13,11 & 9 year old). Alex was our guide and he was a perfect combination of friendly, professional and encouraging but also not pushing you to do anything you weren't comfortable to do.

Once you get kitted out it is then a c15 min walk down to the beach with a short scramble over rocks at the end. Alex then showed us how to do a dive/step into shallow water to get us acclimatised and we were then off. We had such a great experience: we were jumping off rocks (children were prob jumping from 25 foot? parents slightly less!) and we did some traversing across rocks (clinging on with finger tips) and then through caves. We were extremely lucky to have Alex as our guide and also the most glorious weather (early Aug 2020) but this luck notwithstanding, I would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone from old to young. It is only as scary as you want it to be so give it a go if you are feeling a bit nervous. The only minor downside (and I say this only to manage expectations!) is the uphill journey on the way back feels like a bit of a slog. However, it is 100% worth it!

This is the third time I’ve used L&W and would happily use them 10 more times. Unfortunately the weather meant our Coasteering activity was cancelled but the team recommended paddle boarding instead. A few of us had done this before so was understandably disappointed but not much else we could do with a thunderstorm! From the second we arrived Owen and the team were raring to go. We had a fantastic time on the individual boards, then headed into the sea with the huge paddle board. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the highlights of a phenomenal weekend. 8 of us trying to get onto a paddle board WrestleMania style was an awesome way to spend a soggy morning, huge thanks for a fantastic time.

Ultimate Stag & Coasteering - Great Fun!

We had a fantastic time on Land & Wave’s Ultimate Stag experience and a great coasteering session.
The Ultimate Stag was brilliantly organised by Tom & Tom, with venison butchering, axe throwing and archery
The coasteering was excellent too. The conditions were very choppy on the day we went but our guides - Tom and James were superb and made sure we all got through it in one piece.

It seemed excellent value for money and the office were great in arranging our booking and dealing with several changes. Thanks Sam!

The best week!

I went to Land and Wave for a week as part of my DofE Gold Award for the residential section and had a really fun week there. The instructors were all really friendly and made sure that we all had plenty to do, including lots of different evening activities, such as mini Olympics and, on the first day, a massive water fight! Additionally on the first day, we did team building activities to get to know each other better and I was very happy with the people who I was sharing a tent with during the week, as they were all very welcoming. I personally enjoyed the coasteering day the most - we were all supervised very efficiently by the dedicated instructors and I really loved jumping off the rocks into the sea and swimming through caves. Other excellent activities included archery and paddleboarding and kayaking, where we played loads of games, designed to get us all falling in the sea! The food provided was very well organised for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the campfire where we toasted marshmallows was great fun! The two qualifications that are gained during the week in lifesaving and first aid are very useful for a CV and the first aid qualification even provides UCAS points. I would highly recommend this course for anyone looking to meet lots of new, friendly people and enjoys water sports.

Coasteering with Land & Wave - May 2023

I booked a small group coasteering afternoon for me, my son (aged 9), a friend and his son (also aged 9). We were led by Erin, who was on time, professional and safety conscious at all times and was very considerate of the different ages and abilities of our group. The coasteering route was challenging, given the weather and wave conditions, but exciting and Erin adapted the course to keep everyone safe, but still keeping it interesting for the boys. The three hours we spent coasteering flew by and I would definitely repeat the experience with Land & Wave next time we are in the area.

A grin-inducing few hours of coasteering with an excellent team

A fantastic way to celebrate a friends birthday with a small group coasteering event, all guided by the excellent Erin and Rich from Land & Wave. We had a brilliant time, lots of banter, challenging ourselves with the jumps and also some of the scrambling around the ‘cave’ and the traverse around rocks. Erin and Rich were constantly risk assessing each new point and our capability, so we were in great hands and things always felt in control. Highly recommend Land & Wave coasteering: a great location around Dancing Ledge and a great set of instructors, very knowledgeable about the local area and the options available to make things fun and meet your needs.

Excellent weekend in the Purbecks

What a great weekend….. hosted by Tom, Luke and Jim for an ‘Ultimate Stag weekend, although this was just a weekend with a bunch of mates aged 24 to 60!
It was so well arranged and hosted, fantastic steaks and stew for dinner after we skinned and were shown how to butcher the deer properly!
Axe throwing followed by a highly competitive archery competition was a great end to the day.
Thanks to the team…. Would recommend this to any group looking to do something a little different….. if they want a laugh!
