As the headline describes, what an experience, made especially great by the pilot and he crew, they made it fun and very enjoyable from start to finish. We had been waiting a long time for this flight with many cancellations due to the weather but Monday mornings flight was perfect is so many ways... Thanks to Rick the pilot and his son and for Gerry heading up the ground crew..!! Highly recommended

We were booked for an afternoon flight to celebrate the birthday of a friend who lives abroad but was brought up in Somerset. We were told to call on that morning to check the 4 pm. flight was on. Revieved an email the previous evening cancelling the flight. The weather had been dubious, but on the day we received the email the forcast was perfect for the day we should have flown. I have met several pweople who have had a similar experience. We thought maybe they did not have enough people to make the flight viable. Could have been handled better. We were offered substitute flightsm but they were all in the A.M and we were not able to be available.Waiting hopefully for the new season.

Thank you for your review, we are disappointed to hear your feedback and sorry that you weren't able to take the flight on the date you had booked in. Without knowing the exact date you are referring to, it is difficult to explain the reason for the flight being cancelled, however we can offer you reassurance that we very rarely have to cancel flights for reasons other than unsafe weather conditions. We usually make the final decision for a flight as late as possible so that we have the most up to date weather forecast which is updated by the MET office several times a day. Our Pilots are very experienced and have multiple in-depth weather forecasting services for checking winds at various altitudes, cloud cover and visibility and rain radars. These are just a few of the factors they have to look at when deciding if it is safe to fly, they very rarely get it wrong. We check the forecast multiple times per day looking several days in advance so we can get an idea of how likely it is that we are going to be able to fly, when we see that we have good conditions forecast for particular flights where there are spaces available, we send out emails and texts to our customers to offer them the spaces and encourage them to book, by doing this we always ensure that we have enough people booked in to allow a flight to go ahead, we usually try to fill our 15 person basket but sometimes at the start and end of the season, if we can't get enough people together we will use a smaller balloon to allow the flight to go ahead for the people already booked on. If we have a consistent bad forecast for a particular flight, we will sometimes make an early decision to cancel and we inform people by email that an early decision has been made to allow people time to make other plans. There were several days in 2016 and 2017 where we had to cancel flights due to strong and gusty winds on the gradient which is 1000ft and our balloons usually travel between 500ft - 3000ft. This was due to the Jet stream lying very low and going straight over the UK rather than around it, although on the ground the winds were fairly light and it was a nice clear day. To an untrained eye, this can look like we are cancelling flights for no good reason and can be very disappointing, however, we can assure you that you would not want to be in a balloon when the winds are gusting on the gradient! We are just as disappointed when we have to cancel a flight as you are, but we only cancel in the interest of safety. When we cancel a flight, we lose money and our crew and pilots do not get paid so it is not in our interest to cancel for the sake of it, unfortunately, we are constrained by the Great British weather which is not always on our side. If you would like to speak to us to find out more about why your particular flight was cancelled, we will be very happy to look into this for you, you can email or call the office. We do look forward to flying with you soon and hope you have better luck on your next attempt.

We flew over Dorset and Somserset on a beautiful evening. The views were stunning. We landed rather late so the balloon was lit up by the flame so that the van could find us....the resultant photo that I took was shown on BBC news. An unforgetable experience....take a hat as your head will get hot!!
