Family friendly and accessible. We had a great day out at this historical venue. Beautiful gardens and a superb range of exhibits inside the castle. We even walked past the owners who were just charming. Definitely worth a visit and fantastic value for money.

Well worth a visit. Historical value and worth the money for both gardens and castle. Use the guides in the castle to ask questions who are very helpful about the history. It helps. Cafe very good. Nice cakes. Lovely walking around the grounds.

Very interesting lodge built by Sir Walter Raleigh, but after walking through room after room with the history of the Digby family, we were greatly disappointed that the only reference to Sir Walter Raleigh was a one painting of him and his tobacco pipe....What a shame that there is not a larger display for this exciting man who was a... Thank you for your review. What a shame you missed our Sir Walter Raleigh Series - "Great Stories of Sherborne Castle" Sheets in the Solarium (his parlour), in the Green Drawing Room (his main reception room) and in the hall (his entrance hall), which tell of his life story, impact and legacy on the castle and highlight his importance as... Firstly I just want to say how lovely all the guide/custodians were, they were very friendly and sometimes amusing. Four adults and four children under 13 went here a couple of days ago and it was a very nice house with some very nice gardens too, but I felt a bit like I'd seen it all before at every other... Thank you for your review. I think we will take your review as a complement as you do not enjoy being dragged around Stately Homes! I am glad that our guides made your day more bearable with their witty anecdotes. More

Popped into Sherborne Castle on a sunny afternoon. Ticket office staff member was friendly and welcoming and explained the map to us. Parking in a field next to the castle we set off first to the tea room. Staff member was friendly and chatty and produced our order quickly. Sat outside in the sun overlooking the lake, cream tea was... More

I had never heard of Sherborne Castle but was recommended it by a friend. I was extremely impressed by this house and gardens and cannot find a fault with the whole experience plus the entrance fee is quite reasonable compared to other stately home attractions. We arrived late morning in time for morning coffee and cake in the stunning gardens... More

What a fabulous 5* review, I am so pleased that you thought we are better than the National Trust! I do hope you will return soon and venture to the other side of lake as you missed some fabulous vistas, new planting by the cascade and views to the old Castle. May I recommend that you come again in the... More

Came here with my fiancee when we were visiting Sherborne so I could show her where I grew up and went to school. I remember running through the grounds for our Cross Country but I had never been into the Castle to look round. There was so much to see and learn about the building which is steeped in history.... What a fantastic day out! An event that was designed to be a great pleasure for all ages. The actual jousting was very child friendly and entertaining, the falconry extremely informative and fascinating, archery, lovely local ice cream, cider, burgers of all types, a really good choice. My only criticism and complete disapproval was the fire eaters/dancers. They were very... More

I love Sherborne Castle. It is a trip back through time. The extensive grounds are great for walking or picnics. Tea room is expensive so better to go to one in the town. Adult entry is £11 in 2016. Get £1 per person off from Tourist Information Office leaflet. Well worth every penny
