We visited whist staying just outside Sherbourne and it’s definitely worth the £12 entrance fee. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there are plenty of lovely rooms to see inside the castle with lots of information about them and the previous occupant too. The views across the lovely lake to the ruins of the old original castle... More

Gosh how kind of you to recommend us. I am so glad you enjoyed our garden and appreciated the views across the lake, it is Capability Brown's Birthday tomorrow and he would have been very chuffed that his landscape is still appreciated 300 years on. Thanks for taking the time to review us. More

Our very first visit to Sherborne and it was wonderful. A very warm welcome on arrival from very helpful staff. The house was so interesting and well presented. Loved it. Great walk round the lake and through the gardens. Very tranquil. Best carrot cake I have ever had. The tea shop was sweet and good to seat outside overlooking the... More

We didn't have high expectations but we were blown away by this property. The history and interior is fascinating with lots to see, and all the staff were friendly and full of knowledge. Beautiful grounds and a nice tea room. Give it a try.

We visited the New Sherborne Castle on a beautiful summers day (23 August). The two female members of staff at the gate where both polite and helpful. We found plenty of parking and enjoyed wondering around the lake and gardens. Seeking refreshment we then called into the tea rooms for a late lunch. The tea room itself was reasonably busy... More

Thank you for your comprehensive review and thank you for recommending us if you are in the area. I have passed your comments on to our Teamroom staff. If only, you could have spoken to one of our staff when you visited we could have addressed your grievances instantly. Our 3 cheese ploughmans uses only locally sourced artisan made local... More

We visited on very warm day so decided to only buy tickets for the gardens so as to make the most of the weather. £6 each was reasonable in comparison to other stately homes. The grounds were very well kept and the walk to other side of the lake with the view back towards the castle was beautiful. The tea... More

Me and my partner visited for a day out. The castle itself is large and is full of old furniture, portraits, pictures, pottery and more. Each room had a tour guide who you could ask about any items or history. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. Each room also has fact sheets which helpes you identify the persons in the... I was so suprised by the castle, generally preferring the older properties but this time I was amazed by the way the original building had developed over time. Each room had a guide on hand to answer questions and there were also information sheets. Visitors follow arrows to enable the flow of visitors to pass through the rooms comfortably and... More

We visited Sherborne House and grounds recently as part of our summer holiday and I was blown away by the gardens. Extremely well kept and could have stayed at the old boat house all day (the sun was shining). The guides within he house were very friendly, helpful and certainly knew their stuff. The house was very similar to others... More

We are delighted that you found our garden beautiful. We put our heart and soul into the garden and it is lovely that it is appreciated by others. We are thrilled that you would visit us again. We visited for the first time and our expectations were greatly exceeded. After driving through the immaculately maintained Capability Brown landscape we arrived at ample parking right by the Castle, great if mobility is an issue. It was lunchtime, so we found the tea rooms, enjoyed quiche and salad sitting at a table on the terrace and admired the view.... More

Not great value for money as there are so many other worth while castles to visit. The grounds are beautiful and very well looked after. Try and visit the Castle when they have an event on in Sherborne as that is well worth the money spent!
