A very very Large parish church
Aug 2021
Convenient to link in with a visit to both castles as only a few minutes walk from the railway station .Must check the opening time before visiting . Its worth while to look around this ancient building and listen to the famous bells and see inside avery large parish church that was once a Saxon Cathedra ( little remains ).

Beautiful abbey church
Jul 2021
An absolutely lovely church that is fantastic to look around and has a heck of a lot of history about it. A visit to the abbey should definitely be an integral part of any visit to Sherborne.

A Beautiful Building
Jun 2021
A lovely quiet and peaceful place to visit, a pity they don't open for longer. I have not been to a service but the atmosphere is very tranquil. Just a pity that only the front pew was available to sit down and pray, I am sure a few more pews spaced apart could be made available even during Covid 19restrictions.

A stunning work of art that is steeped in English History.
Jun 2021
This is an absolutely stunning Abbey inside & out that is steeped in English history that I had the privilege to visit on Monday whilst visiting this beautiful area in Dorset, the lady who welcomed me when I arrived was so warm & friendly, she kindly gave me a leaflet to explain a little about the history of the Abbey & I could surely see why some people say that it is the finest building in Dorset.

I found out some of the Abbey's olde historical facts since it's creation in AD 705, that 2 Saxon Kings are buried here, that it has the heaviest peel of eight bells in the world & that Sir Walter Raleigh worshipped here, plus so much more that I don't want to spoil for anyone who is thinking of visiting, all I will say is that I am sure once you see the Abbey, you will not be disappointed, a true work of art.
