I not religious but really enjoyed visiting this Abbey. Stunning stained glass windows and a very relaxing place to visit. Well worth the visit when in Sherborne

This is one of the most beautiful churches I've been in, with gorgeous windows and fanned ceilings. We were lucky enough to visit on a day when there was an organ recital, so we also got to hear that magnificent instrument. I'd thoroughly recommend a visit to this wonderful building.

The Abbey is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful structures in Britain. It looks stunning from the outside but, amazingly, even better within. The ceiling is a marvel, there is gorgeous statuary the side chancels, there are beautiful windows and the alter piece is remarkable. On top of this is wonderful history that goes back to the 10th... A lot it has been said about this very old church, so i will be brief. To me it is even more beautiful inside than outside. The richness of the carvings, the fan ceiling, glass windows, are unique.A painter of icons inside told me that it used to be a cathedral before the bishop moved to Salisbury and had a... More

I was overwhelmed by this amazing Abbey and by the sense of peace I felt with the smell of altar flowers and the cool stillness of ancient stone walls and floors. It is simply amazing to think that the Abbey was created in AD 705 when Aldhelm, the first Bishop of the West Saxons chose Sherborne or Scire-burne (Saxon for... More

Sherborne is a beautiful town with lots of lovely buildings, shops and a small market on Saturdays. Managed to get inside the Abbey just before a wedding last Saturday and had the pleasure of listening to the choir rehearsing which was divine and an unexpected treat. The Abbey itself is beautiful with some lovely stained glass and several quiet chapels.
