Due to deep water NO CHILDREN UNDER 14 years of age and NO DOGS are allowed. We are open Monday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm. Entry is £10 per person and entry to The Gallery is free. Described as one of the most beautiful and unique sculpture parks in the United Kingdom, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes. Whether it is work on a monumental scale that relates to its environment, or smaller works, the sculptures of Simon Gudgeon are perfectly placed in the delicately nurtured natural landscape to visually enhance their surroundings. The effect is a balance, a harmony of form and context where the experience is central. Without walls, without interpretation, each person can engage with the art and the ever-changing environment.

Lovely setting and impressive sculptures but expensive admission and no refreshments or facilities available. Sales area could retain high quality but cater for more people than just the extremely rich!

Tucked away deep in the Dorset countryside this was great find. Enchanting sculptures are spaced around lakes and the banks of the River Frome. Lots of lovely picnic spots, we found one by the corner of one of the lakes and enjoyed sitting in the warm sun. A great place to chill. My favourite sculptures were the fruit, enlightenment -... Enjoyed this immensely the peace and quite. You thought of nothing but the tranquillity and beauty of your surroundings. Took away all pressures of the day. Sculptures were exceptional what a great talent. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the views. Need to take a picnic and just enjoy the scenery. Can get an ice cream but no place... More

The weather was not brilliant when we visited but it was wander full anyway. From the moment we arrived were given a comprehensive map and short introductory talk by a member of staff. The trees shrubs and flowers in abundance then coming across the statues almost by surprise shown off beautifully against the lakes are breathtaking. There is no cafe... More

Brilliant day, no children, no mobile phones, no noise at all, just countryside, nature and art. Great place for a picnic and chill out.

It costs £10 per person which is expensive for a sculpture park - especially for this one which displayed work from an individual man so lacked variety of work as the style was very similar . The work is minimalistic which a few pleasing pieces but overall a rather plain style. The grounds are nice to walk around as surrounded... More

Dear Emilymad27, Thank you for your review and we appreciate your comments. We would like to point out that the park is the Sculptor's (Simon Gudgeon) home, and hence this is the main showcase for his internationally renowned work. Furthurmore, we price our entry based on similar attractions in the area. I hope this is helpful, The SBTL Team. More

What a beautiful setting for wonderful sculptures. The sculptures are set amongst lovely backdrops of lakes and whispering bamboo. If you were stressed before a visit I would guarantee that you would be relaxed after spending a couple of hours strolling around the gardens.

No children. Gated entrance, had to press buzzer to enter-all a bit poncey. However, lakes lovely, interesting garden styles, sculptures fab although there could have been more. Some were on loan but there were still more places for more. Very tranquil place even with the farmer next door mowing. Fab use of miscanthus and grasses in garden next to the... More

Dear Diana S, Thank you very much for your review and we appreciate your kindness. I would like to explain that the gates are here for security purposes and also for the privacy of the owners who live on the site. Furthermore, since the park opened in 2011, it has been constantly evolving, and in due course more sculptures will... More

What an inspirational place.! We saw it in sunny weather but think it would just be as beautiful but different in rainy or misty conditions. The sculptures are stunning and the setting has been so thoughtfully crafted around the lake. Some garden type planting and then some left wild , lily ponds and carefully placed benches and resting places abound.... More

This is not easy to find and lacks any form of sign posting so trust your sat nav is my advice. It felt like we were driving through middle earth to get there! Once there we spent 90minutes embracing the wonderful walk around the lakes and looking st the fabulous art. Even though the weather wasn't great it didn't affect... More

Thank you for your comments and sorry you had trouble finding us. We do have full directions on our website and indeed having a sat nav and/or a road map will make all the difference. We are currently applying for brown signs but it is a long and tortuous process... Being off the beaten track has both it's advantages -... More
