How Hardy would have hated the position of this statue. The bronze statue itself is unremarkable but oh boy whoever decided to place it here at Top O' Town - near the bus station and overlooking the worst roundabout for miles en route for Lidl...More

I see this statue everyday when I go into Dorchester. Interesting history of Dorchester writer, Tjomas Hardy.

We drove past this statue a few times. It's right next to a busy crossroads at the top of the High Street. Not really somewhere you would walk to and linger. Perhaps it should be in the pedestrianised road just off the main thoroughfare?

He sits in front of a road that cicles the old city wall, just at the end of one of the central town roads. After having read som eof his books, we enjoyed seeing some of the sites he describes in the "Mayor of Casterbridge".
