Lovely little rare breeds farm with a variety of animals; small text plaques tell you interesting facts about the animal breeds. The animals themselves are friendly and look well cared for. A joyful diversion for an hour or so, for adults or children.

The weather was lovely yesterday so decided to take a trip to totnes rare breeds petting zoo. When following the google maps instructions it took us far out the back roads to of little Hempston until we eventually reached the water works where there was a sign stating that google maps have incorrectly directed us and it provides a postcode to follow. However, it was the exact same postcode we had been given which was confusing. After pulling over and searching maps we decided to go back onto the main road and follow it to totnes. We parked and walked to the zoo. The receptionist was friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The ticket cost £8.50 per adult and we also opted to buy the bag of animal feed for 50p which was great fun. It was a great walk around, the one way system was clear and made sure you didn't miss out on see any animals. All the animals were so lovely to pet and hold out your hand to give some of the feed too. When we went the children had gone back to school so it was quite and we weren't rushed. Alot of the animals had babies with them which was adorable and they looked happy. We also saw a seal in the river on our walk back over the bridge. We thoroughly enjoyed our day out and will definitely be back again and would recommend to others. ***CORRECT DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GET THERE:*** 1) We parked in pavilions carpark on totnes. Postcode for this is - TQ9 5XW. Just a little further on from the leisure centre. 2) Once you parked and have paid for your ticket, walk over to the big rugby fields (past the little playpark with that on your left). 3) Keep following the path all the way to the train station and turn right (you should see a little sign for it). 4) Follow the path and cross over the bridge when you come to it. 5) Continue up the path past the other little train station and the zoo it at the end on the right. Please know that there is no on- site parking for this zoo. The walk is buggy friendly and flat. Its about a 10 minute walk for 2 adults. Currently, due to the COVID19 there is no café, picnic areas or toilet facilities at the zoo. Toilets at the nearby station are available however.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review and thoughtfully providing directions. Google is being incredibly frustrating and I am so sorry it made things difficult for you (the post code should lead you by car to the Pavillions, but Google wants to drop you down a private lane and make to WALK TO the Pavillions from there!) we have been trying without any luck to rectify the issue. But I am so glad you had a lovely time and look forward to your return visit...now you know how to find us!

When we eventually found out where we were going as car park is a good 15 min walk away from the entrance and you get to it by going over the steam track station. Very well laid out and plenty of small animals to see and you can enter the pens as well on some.

We had such a lovely afternoon at Totnes Rare Breeds. A beautiful ten minute walk from the Pavillion car park (buggy friendly) our one year old loved the farm. So many friendly animals for her to see and they’re very well looked after. We will certainly be back again 😍

An amazing day. The owls as you come in. Sam showed me and told me about the owls. She and her team are so dedicated to what they do. Animal welfare and kindness is clear to see. An amazing experience. Always pay a visit when in the area. Even sponsored an alpaca. Adults and children if you love animals then this is the place for you
