About
The Boulder Bunker is a Climbing Gym in the heart of Torquay. We are open 7 days a week and have something to suit all ages and abilities. Novices to pros; everyone can have a go. We have everything you need for a workout. You won't even realise you're getting exercise! We are not a play cafe, so children have to be closely supervised by their parent or guardian. Bean to cup coffee, a selection of hot and cold drinks and light snacks means you'll be spoilt for choice. Cafe seating, great staff, the perfect place for a birthday party, corporate team building event, or group booking. Come and have a go! No experience required, no equipment necessary - no excuses ;)

Dropped in for a curiosity climb. As I'm a local I was instantly devistated I had not come sooner... This is a proper old school gym. If your used to TCH then this will be a proper shake up. I am told you can even suggest routes! Great vibe and I'm just trying to make time to get back.

Visiting Torquay for our family holiday. Choose The Boulder Bunker as sons currently interested in climbing lots. I didn't climb but Husband and two sons (8 & 11) took part. Stayed for over 2hours as they enjoyed themselves so much. Was a bit unsure at first about it free solo for the children but was very quickly put at ease. Eldest son was unsure at first about taking part but Aaron (staff member) was very friendly and allowed him to watch first before making up his mind. Aaron was very calm with us and calmly dealt with a situation when the youngest got himself stuck on the ledge, and talked him through, how to safely get down. With this, the youngest climbed up and down 4 more times by himself without getting stuck. Aaron was approachable, gave praise and encouragement and tips for a better climb. We would definitely go back again when we visit Torquay in the future.

I visited with my ten year old grandson who wanted to have a go at climbing. We were greeted by Arran who kept an eye on him and gave encouragement and coaching tips. My grandson is now completely hooked and can't wait to go again. What a super introduction to a great sport. Thank you Arran. Brilliant!

What a fantastic experience. We popped in whilst on holiday. The staff were welcoming and super friendly. We spent ages bouldering and chatting. Would highly recommend The Boulder Bunker

Couldn’t be more impressed with the quality of the service and facilities at the Boulder bunker! Lots of sanitising stations still available and staff wearing face masks too. I had a great first bouldering session, so exhausted after an hour but managed to get so much done and would have loved to have stayed longer if my body could take it. Aaron went out of his way to help me and show me techniques on the walls, which really made the whole experience! Can’t wait to go again!

Visited today for the first time with my 5yr old son and we both had a blast!
Completed our induction and then got straight to having some fun, many thanks to Aaron for talking us through everything and spending some time with us.
Lived in Torquay all my life and never knew the place was there, but glad I’ve found it now!
The place has so much potential and it’s great to support a local business, will be returning.
Recommended!

I went with my teenage son and we had a wonderful time. Heading back later this week! Very friendly staff who also came over to us and gave handy hints. They also have a couple of training rooms. We've been to a few bouldering centres and this is by far the best. Also very cool music being played and friendly clientele.

This is a good little venue for competent climbers to conduct some training or novices to just give it a go. The training gym has some boxing equipment that my teenage children enjoyed using. However our climbing session was curtailed because there were a lot of very young children running around not supervised responsibly by parents and treating the facility like a soft play area. This is a hazard when people are trying to climb or use the gym kit and could make the owners liable if an injury occurred. I'd like to suggest the managers take a stronger line with such parents and ensure very young kids are not allowed in the training area particularly and don't run around the bouldering area underneath climbers - it's not a large site. Otherwise a good venue and recommended for older children and adults, including novices.

The family and I came here the end of last week and had a tremendous time, good fun for all ages and a great variety of Routes from beginner to expert!
Staff were friendly and helpful from the time of entry to the time we left, the coffee was amazing and truth be told I had more than one (needed the energy)
Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area, the boulder bunker is a hidden Gem.
