There is still some quite visible Victorian presence at Torquay railway station, notably the turrets and associated ironworks. The grey stonework of the station says Victorian inspiration, but it sits uncomfortably with the modern glass and plastics of the ticket office. the refreshments / cafe is on the down side, actually the wrong side as this platform only has one... Having occasion to use Torquay station recently due to jury service just waiting for the train is a pleasure as you look at all the Victorian architecture. It's like a step back in time.

Our daughter and her fiancé had to catch a train to the North of England and had to wait 3 hours for it. The waiting room was locked, the refreshments shop was closed, it was pouring with rain, and freezing cold. They were told not to try an earlier train as their tickets might not be accepted, so they had... More

Don't use Torbay Taxis - they are seemingly dishonest. Torbay Taxis have let me and my friends down on a number of occasions|: they then deny everything and never apologise. Real SCHISTERS! Try Torquay Taxis instead. Tel: 01803 292292 Happy Christmas and use a company that puts you first.

stayed in the grand hotel nearby, and enjoyed a walk around this lovely old station. you can hear the sea roaring in the wind it was October gales and very blustery. Our hotel within a few hundred yards of train station so its ideal for people who don't drive.
