Can’t imagine anywhere else in the city which could have drawn and hosted such a loyal and determined crowd. We ate close by and the chanting singing and cheering was clearly audible throughout and we were fortunate to witness the joy of the reaction to the final whistle. Quite how the pub managed to cater for and steadily lubricate so many for so long is a mark of its absolute and longstanding commitment to the cause.

I visited this pub for the first time on a Thursday night to meet a few friends. The bar man/maid were great and were really helpful with my fussy needs of not drinking out of a pint glass. The pub soon filled and there was a really nice feel about the place with the pool table and darts kicking off.
I've lived in Plymouth 13 years and cant believe I've finally found a chilled out spot for just drinking and chatting with great bar attentive bar staff.

This building has been a pub for a long time. Formerly the Barbican Arms and then for many years Porters that had a good boisterous following particular for drinking while there was good sport on the TVs. We ate at a new restaurant in Bretonside and decided to come over here for more drinks. We did not know that it was now a new business. Completely redecorated inside and out as ‘Fuel’ a restaurant and bar with some pool tables and an enclosed and part cover outside music/events area. We didn’t stay to try the food because we’d eaten but we did relax and have a couple in the fresh laid back bar area.

Usually busy, generally welcoming, well kept selection of popular booze, usual Sky stuff, pool table, reasonable selection and proportion of women. Not too far from taxi rank or central bus stops. Prices not cheap but fair. In so far as regular pubs this one is good and deserves to thrive.

Not I think quite as good as some of the reviews. It's not in any sense special although it does all the things that you expect of a current style of pub, big screen, pool, range of lagers and ciders, and a good buzz of people. It's on the fringe of the Barbican so you can make your way over there later for a club or come over here after an early meal in one of the many restaurants. Good warm space in these cold damp winter times.

Presents and behaves like an active keen inner suburban pub with selection of booze, pub games, big TV and garden space for better weather. Not lively like many of the Barbican bars or of traditional character like the Dolphin, Queens or Navy. But I like Porters because it is a good pub and close in to town and the edge of the Barbican area.

Popped in for a quick pint. Nice bar, has the old feeling but has been modernised. Nice big screens which is ideal for sports. Beer garden outside which looks new. Shame the sun wasn't out for us!

Easygoing pub. Have been here for a few pints and a couple of games of pool after the evening meal and film deal up the road at the Arts Centre. Porters is a relaxed pub with a good range of beers. The garden is next to the road and can be a sun trap or a wind tunnel. Sadly in the shadow most evenings.

Tahks for your feedback i agree we do lose the sun at about 6pm, but have sent an e mail to god to see if we can have the sun over our beer garden for at least another hr in the early evening.
