Fantastic pub. great staff
May 2021 • Friends
A really excellent pub with the most friendly and welcoming staff which will go above and beyond for you, lovely family pub with a great atmosphere and fantastic staff, if this place gets a juke box it’s the best pub in Europe.

Unpleasant throughout.

Awful pub. Now taken over by new owners who haven't got a clue and don't care. Full of drunken idiots, they let anyone in the place. No pride. An unpleasant place with unpleasant people run by unpleasantness. Never again and I encourage everyone to avoid this dump.

Awful pub
Aug 2020 • Friends
Awful place. Would rather stay at home than be abused the the clueless owners who will accuse you of having a good time. In all the years I've been goin to this pub theres has never been an aggressive owner until now good luck to the anyone who has the pleasure of goin in there. Not gunna last long with that approach. Stale pints stale attitude no food anymore and a unwelcoming atmosphere. Good luck to them..

Barely ticking over.
Feb 2020
Indifferent staff, almost empty, no sign of effort or enthusiasm or anything better to come. It’s as if the brewery or pub owners are just keeping the place nominally open. This could be a great little pub but will need a vast amount of work and attention if there’s to be a resurrection.

A drink to see if things have changed

On walking into this beautiful pub, On the Saturday before Christmas I was met with nothing, very few customers, did not represent Christmas at all, people behind the bar, I do believe one to be the Manager on their phones, so disappointed.
This pub deserves more😔

Maybe at last it’s on the up again.

In for just a couple tonight. The irrational list of prohibitions is still nailed to the entrance door and the separate public bar entrance remains locked with a sign stating that that bar is closed.

But going in the other way we found the main bar comfortably busy, two or three groups, friends or families, and some genial bustle around the bar. A couple of raucous lads at the entrance and some glammed up late teen girls in a corner. For the first time in ages, the Rising Sun is behaving like a regular suburban pub again. Bar staff still a bit formal in
long dark aprons embroidered with the pub name etc etc. At least the two IPA ales seemed well kept. Still not relaxed enough for us but things are looking up.

Needs improving
May 2019 • Couples
This pub was a good pub until the latest owner took over only half the pub is open with half the number people in here. The kitchen is closed and The drinks are over priced and the ladies and gents stink to hi heaven and are really cold everyone locally thought this was going to be made into a better pub but no what has gone wrong.

What has happened?
Apr 2019
Whats has happened to this once great pub? No working men allowed, cash sale only, no food, no atmosphere, no locals, no sports tv. In fact not even any customers!! I live in this street and how unlucky to have 2 pubs and both be really poor. The brewery should do something fast as both pubs have potential but are being managed poorly.
