I never tire of the view

I last visited Plymouth in 2009 and I used to live here in the 80's as a student. I never tire of the view, in any weather. It's a fabulous part of Plymouth.

A fantastic natural harbour - with some stunning sceanary. I go diving in the sound on a regular basis, and one of the great bits of the day out is always the boat trip through the sound. The atmospheric light in the evenings often makes for particularly great views

Probably the best way of seeing the sound is to take a boat trip round it, there are plenty of trips that do this and include the Naval Base and see the few ships that are left in our Navy.

I was born in Plymouth but live in Sydney and still think Plymouth Sound is one of the worlds best harbours - I've seen a lot all over the world! Take a small ferry ride across to the Cornish fishing village of Cawsand or another up the Tamar river. On a nice day have a swim at the Lido.

This is a brilliant place just to sit and watch the world go by, especially on a warm summer evening. If you are interested in fireworks, then visit the area for the national championships.

If it is a nice day and you want to just sit and watch, this is ideal as there is always something happening. Find yourself a nice seat and watch everyone else dashing about and enjoying themselves. When you need to move there are plenty of places to have lunch or a drink. Lovely views and it doesn't cost a... More

France. This was a stroll down memory lane as at least twice a year we would drive up to board the Brittany ferry here for a magic over night to Roscoff in Brittany. The sound is also a good place to watch the water world with its many features...make sure you take time to sit and enjoy.
