At the Barbican Theatre, we use theatre and dance to fire people up and get them excited about making, creating and exploring new moves and disciplines.

We are inclusive and work with anyone who wants to join us to make outstanding theatre and dance. You can get involved as a participant or as an audience member in work that inspires, challenges, entertains and educates.

We believe that creativity belongs to everyone, so we ensure that our performances and workshops are affordable and accessible. We are also specialists in taking our work out to schools, into public spaces and to communities.

Feel free to drop us a review on one of our latest shows or if you've come for a visit, let us know about your experience! Don't forget to take some snaps whilst you're in the building, whether it's with a caught-out cast member or of our B-Bar downstairs. We hope you enjoy your trip to our tucked away theatre - currently rated NUMBER ONE THEATRE IN PLYMOUTH - so give us a 'like' on Facebook or a 'follow' on Twitter to find out more about future events!

Brilliant show with some fantastic young star performers. Special mention for BB wolf and the three little pigs. Lovely friendly staff. Can get quite hot and stuffy in the theatre so best get dressed for a warm day. Plenty of drinks from the B bar and ice cream served in the interval.

Hi DevonToffeePie, Thank you for coming to see Plymkids' production of Oink - glad you enjoyed the show, which was brilliantly performed by the young people of Plymouth. Great to see that we were able to help you out and definitely a good suggestion for the Summer to be dressed for the sun! Thank you for the review! More

Spellbinding performance. A deeply emotional, thought provoking and, at times, comical interpretation with great direction and use of stage. Quite rightly they received a standing ovation at the end. Congratulations to all involved.

Hi MrAndre, Thank you for your visit! Glad to see that you enjoyed the show and were taken on an incredible journey through one of Brecht's greatest plays. Well done to the third year St. Mark and St. John students of the Actor's Wheel! Thank you for the review! More

What a brilliant production. Clever use of space and resources. The actors were focused from the moment the production started right through till the auditorium was empty. Camille was very imposing in her role using facial and body language as well as very clear diction. Other cast members who delivered fab performances included Hermione, Hermione's lady's in waiting, Autolycus and... More

Hi LucyAM2, Thank you for coming to see such a fantastic performance from the first year Marjon students from The Actor's Wheel! We are pleased to see that you had such a wonderful time and hope to see you again - perhaps for the next show from the acting degree's third years, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, on June 11th! One of Shakespeare's lesser known plays made real by a group of Marjons Acting degree students. All human emotions on display in this play - best portrayed by Miss Victoria Sherwood as the strong matriarch Pauline ... If this is what she can do as a First Year student, the sky is the limit once she graduates. The venue was... More

Hi Marybethx7x, It's great to see that you enjoyed your visit to Barbican Theatre for The Actor's Wheel's production of The Winter's Tale! There was certainly a lot of incredible talent on stage from the first years of University of St. Mark and St. John's acting degree. We can only expect high amount of skill for The Caucasian Chalk Circle... More

What to do to 'celebrate', to quote my other half, '11 ruddy years' together? Well, if you live in or around Plymouth and are on the Barbican Theatre's mailing list, you find out that your favourite Canadian comic has squeezed in an extra tour date at one of Plymouth's little gems. Seating about 150 people this intimate venue is a... More

Le Navet Bete's "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" lit up the Barbican Theatre on Saturday evening. Having seen this crazy company before, I knew what to expect, but soon found myself carried along once more on a roller coaster ride of fun and non-stop laughter.
