At the Barbican Theatre, we use theatre and dance to fire people up and get them excited about making, creating and exploring new moves and disciplines.

We are inclusive and work with anyone who wants to join us to make outstanding theatre and dance. You can get involved as a participant or as an audience member in work that inspires, challenges, entertains and educates.

We believe that creativity belongs to everyone, so we ensure that our performances and workshops are affordable and accessible. We are also specialists in taking our work out to schools, into public spaces and to communities.

Feel free to drop us a review on one of our latest shows or if you've come for a visit, let us know about your experience! Don't forget to take some snaps whilst you're in the building, whether it's with a caught-out cast member or of our B-Bar downstairs. We hope you enjoy your trip to our tucked away theatre - currently rated NUMBER ONE THEATRE IN PLYMOUTH - so give us a 'like' on Facebook or a 'follow' on Twitter to find out more about future events!

This small theatre has been developed to its full potential. In a footprint roughly the size of a large house, the stage productions have a professional sheen, and they offer live music and a great range of drinks and food in the lobby. Its one of those places you want to support because they are just doing everything they can,... More

Fantastic - i'm not a great ballet fan, but this retelling of the Moby Dick story is brilliant - the dancers are amazingly vibrant - but the star is Moby Dick herself - she did things with her back that i didn't think possible! The only minus point was £6.60 for a tiny bottle of v ordinary wine - i... More

Hi BigAnnII, Great to see that you enjoyed James Wilton Dance's LEVIATHAN - an epic retelling of Moby Dick! We will pass on the good word to the company, who we're sure would be glad to hear it. Unfortunately, as the performance was at The House, Plymouth University, we were unable to decide drink and food prices ourselves, so our... More

I love this little theatre. It is tucked away in a back street on the barbican in Plymouth It is a very old building with lots of atmosphere. I have never been to see a production, but I have been told how interesting, novel, and exciting they can be. On the other hand I have eaten there several times and... More

Think your pre-show information was excellent and although a little disappointed it wasn't open air can understand why it had to move under a roof. The show was excellent with clever staging and a great cast. we're so Impressed with help from the technician, as our 14 yr old has sensory processing disorder and when he read there'd be a... More

Booked tickets after sadly missing last years production. When I realised there was music incorporated into the performance I was nervous. Having watched lots of Shakespeare (mostly open air) I was worried that this 'twist' might take away from all that I love about his plays. I am very pleased to say that it did not. The performance was enthralling... More

Yet again the Barbican Theatre Group produced a stunning outdoor performance. The harmonies in the singing were mesmerising and each and every member of the company gave their heart and soul to this, one of The Bard's most popular, plays. I can't wait to see what they plan for next year but whatever it is count me in!!
