Plym valley trail.. Not just for cyclists

This trail is a beautiful walk, love taking the dog there, as do many other dog owners. The trail is misnamed here, it's a public path, not merely a cycle trail. Maybe due to this misnaming, some cyclists (a minority) are extremely rude to walkers and joggers. This Sunday one swore at us as we walked our dog on her... More

It's flat and pretty, just right for families. Leads eventually to Tavistock. The viaducts are impressive

I have ridden this path many times. It is safe, easy and chillaxing, unless you really want to do some real off roading!

Parked at Saltram House (National Trust). Although parking is also available right at start of trail it felt a safer place to leave the car and gives the option of riding around the park and also to tie in a visit to the house. From the park there are signs guiding you towards Plympton and the actual start of trail,... More

I live very close by and love walking these paths (as I'm not a lover of cycling) especially at quieter periods as it is brilliant for seeing local wildlife and can be very peaceful, however it gets extremely busy during good weather.

What a fantastic place. I choose to cycle, but it is equally as accessible to walkers. Usually start from Coy Pool, but can also cycle / walk from Saltram or the car park at Plym Bridge. Steady incline up to Clearbrook and Yelverton, but lovely downhill on the way back. There is the Skylark pub at Clearbrook (excellent food :-))... More

I do this cycle trail regularly with my daughter (15).It is safe and has lovely views. Ice cream stop at Plymbridge. A slight up hill gradient but on the way back its brilliant. You dont actually realise that you are going up hill until the speed you can do on the way back. No effort at all

We have been many times over the years, sometimes park in coypool and walk up passed plymbridge and cann wood or park at plymbridge and walk up to shaughprior going through the tunnel. Always a pleasure which ever way beautiful views. Take some money ice-cream vans at shaughprior plymbridge and coypool. Only downside are the cyclists most are mindful but... More

Cycled with 9 and 11 year olds and dog. They all managed easily. Dramatic viaducts and a long tunnel to go through which was fun. Take your own food and drink as there is nothing along the way. Slightly up on way out of Plymton, good fun wizzing back down. Good to paddle on the river at the end.
