Nice Trail, Nice Views
Feb 2021
Very nice trail, well groomed mostly, a little mud but it was only February. We got our bikes at the Plymouth Bike Hire. It's fairly level but generally going uphill away from the city and downhill coming back. There's one section of a pretty long tunnel and at one point a train went by (not in the tunnel, though). There are some deer and other smaller animals about and horses.

Very busy fine first Sunday of March ‘21
Mar 2021
Very busy (but manageable) with a steady flow of cyclists of all ages most in small groups, some with smallish children and or dogs. Very attractive run up from Coypool along a well maintained trail on the old railway track up as far as Goodameavy and beyond.

Enjoyable, scenic and reasonably demanding cycle route to Yelverton and beyond
Nov 2020 • Friends
A steady climb at railway gradient. Some parts demand care in giving way to walkers, dogs and toddlers on new bikes. Speed can be excessive down hill, and dangerous. Largely tarmacced path surface but mud guards are needed in the winter months. Sunny spring days are magnificent when foliage is fresh. A most satisfying ride.

Cycle Route 27
Oct 2020
Often cycle Route 27 between Plymouth (including Saltram Estate) and Tavistock, going off route into woodland trails. To be avoided on school holiday afternoons, and watch out for the dogs off lead.

Unplanned family cycle
Sep 2020 • Family
Holiday planned for a week in Devon. Contact with family in Plympton who suggested a cycle one Saturday afternoon. As I cycle at home I was up for a cycle. Borrowing a bike from a family member we set off. I loved every minute of it. The scenery was lovely and we had some young cyclist too. They managed the round trip with not too much whinging. We ended up doing 19 miles in the end.

at least its downhill on way back!!
Aug 2020
gentle incline on way out as is an old railway but well worth it as barely noticeable till you dont have to pedal much on the way back. the Sistrans cycle route has some steep sections in the middle but these can be bypassed by going along the flatter path from where it doubles back,, is a nice trail with enough variation to be good. there are some other routes for the more adventurous both on road and more off piste. traffic free but advise buying a drink from either end as not alot else on way if the coffe van isnt in Plymbridge carpark{(if it is definately stop for coffee and / or icecream!!)}

Cycle Tour
Sep 2020
As part of our cycle tour from Barnstable to Plymouth we used the Plym Valley Cycle trail. Some wonderful scenery, a great trail, safe and traffic free, we would recommend it to anyone wanting to get some exercise and enjoyment of the outdoors.

Beautiful route - and good for your heart
Aug 2020
Long been a favourite for Plymouth cyclists on the steady, old railway gradient. Gives you a good work out up to Yelverton through most interesting landscape

Perfect for families

A beautiful cycle trail!

We hired bikes from Plymouth Bike Hire in Plympton and set off from Coypool. With two little people in tow (quite literally) we didn’t make it all the way to The Skylark at Clearbrook as planned but we did make it to Leighbeer Tunnel and back! Mostly uphill heading away from Plymouth you certainly feel it in your legs but the trip back is all down hill and an utter pleasure!

The tunnel was a favourite with the kids - very long, dark and great fun listening to echoes. There are also tales of hauntings along here and it certainly is atmospheric.

Be prepared for stunning view after stunning view! It truly is a beautiful route. A few highlights for us were spotting a fallow deer and her fawn under one of the viaducts and scampering over a field together, hearing the buzzards and the very friendly horses who were keen to say hello and have a stroke.

The kids did really have a ball and we’d thoroughly recommend this trail to other young families.
