Overall, the trip was very well organised.
We stayed in great places that as an independent traveller, you would struggle to find or book. We were able to experience lots of different aspects and landscapes of Morocco.
I really enjoyed some of the old medieval towns, the canyons/gorges and the mountains. At one point we were at 2,900m altitude on a tarmac road, with stunning views all around us.
Surprisingly, for me at least, the roads in Morocco were in very good state and hardly any potholes (certainly far less than where I ride in the UK). In the far south, occasionally sand was being blown across the highway, but it was normally easy to see that and slow down in well in advance.
I took a 10 year old BMW GS1200 with road tyres and I would say this was a good choice: comfortable, some wind protection, heated grips (yes, some mornings in the high mountains it can be quite cold!), enough baggage for a 2 week trip.
Jay and Raz are super-knowledgeable, have both led many trips in Morocco and were always happy to help. You can get rain in Morocco or Spain at this time of year and I recommend that you take that into account when packing. We also had glorious sunny days and temperatures of 29C.
As a group, we all really enjoyed the experience.
I was impressed that Jay ensured there was always vegetarian food available at every lunch stop and organised evening dinner.
There is no nationwide breakdown / recovery service in Morocco, and some of the places you visit are pretty remote, far from any motorcycle dealer, so the "insurance" of having a van on the tour with a motorcycle trailer was a factor in my decision to go with Overland. It wasn't needed for any of us but the peace of mind was appreciated by all.
I can highly recommend this Morocco tour and this company.

A great way to experience Morocco on a motorcycle, take the stress out of planning and just turn up and ride.
Routes are well thought out considering the amount of distance that's covered, no pressure on ability or pace.
A good cross section of accommodation to pack in the most of the experience, with the freedom to add some exploration at the stops.
Describing the the riding is hard because of the diversity, fast good tarmac, twisty mountains, small villages to cities, has it all.
Largish group of twelve clients meant a good mix of people brought together with the camaraderie of motorcycling, loads of laughs and some amazing personal stories.

Highly recommend Overland Tours for value for money and making you feel safe.

An absolute must for all motorcyclists. This was one of the most memorable experiences of my life; fantastic routes taking in the most amazing roads and views the regions has to offer. I would highly recommend the guided tour as Jay is a great guy who works hard to meet the needs of everyone in the group. Having a guide ensures you will visit the best cafe’s/restaurants on route as well as stopping at the most picturesque spots to take in the breathtaking scenery.
Massive thanks to Jay for a truly amazing experience.

First class Moroccan experience. Accommodation varied from executive type hotels to Saharan camp and Rhiads, a full mixture that gives a real insight into the Moroccan way of life. The restaurants were varied each day and the food was fantastic in all of the locations. Hotels and restaurants on the Spanish legs were excellent . The routes were well set out and it’s great to have the safety net of the back up van as well. Raz the lead rider was very patient and deals with the variety of rider levels very well, a top fella who was fantastic company each night. Jay has great local knowledge is very informative and manages the tour perfectly. Thank you both.

Speaking to people who travelled with other tour companies on the ferry trip home, they mostly seemed very disappointed with the quality and value for money of their tour, everyone on the Overland tour had nothing but complimentary things to say, with no negative comments.

The Overland tour is great value for money and a real bucket list experience, not to be missed.

Extremely enjoyable trip, from Malaga to Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara and back. Winding tarmac roads that seem to never end, sandy gravel tracks on the edge of red sand dunes and mountain rocky trails with cliff like edges, its simply hard to get better! Traditional tagine meals where delicious and the hotels were a great experience of raw, comfy and wonderful. The local people were very friendly and accommodating throughout the Morocco. Jay and Raz ( Organiser and Guide) took great care of all our needs and any issues or concerns our group had were soon sorted out "Thanks Lads" .
The bike I hired was the business, it was light and very capable for all terrains ( New honda Transalp). It was also great meet new people and have lots of fun while doing so.

I asked Jay if I could join the Morocco tour from 11 to 20 October 2023 as my personal circumstances had changed dramatically. Jay got me fitted in due to a drop out at the last minute. My preferred bike was the Moto Guzzi V85 but due to my late booking I was offered the KTM Adventure instead which I accepted. Unfortunately 35Kms into the ride from Malaga the KTM packed up with gear box problems. Jay came to the rescue and offered me his Honda CRF 300 to continue on the tour which I duly accepted. So I started riding the Honda from Tetuan and I loved every minute of it. The scenery was amazing once we got away from the touristy areas and tracks. I was keen to get going early doors and with the SatNav loaded off I went. The ride leader Raz and Jay were kept informed of my intentions and were fully supportive. I never got lost, the roads and routes are easy to follow and theyre not being blasted by GSs etc. The "hotels" get more and more rustic in keeping with the environs, do you really expect a 4* hotel in a village in the High Atlas Mountains? If so then you're not really understanding what this tour is all about. Go with the flow, expect the unexpected and if you wish do your own thing crack on but just stick to the planned route just in case.

Adventure touring at its best! This brought us "up close and personal" with so much of Morocco's geographic and cultural diversity. Accommodations were comfortable and our bike ran well. Kudos to Raz for keeping us on track! Note that this is not for the armchair traveler or bus tourist-- you need to be a competent motorcycle rider, and be aware that you are out in the elements and may encounter any sort of weather, while riding long hours over roads that can be challenging. But if this is your cup of tea, you will be rewarded with truly memorable experiences and make good friends in the process!

What a cracking week. Fabulous tour and Jay certainly knows his stuff. He put everyone at ease and made sure that the riding was within everyone's comfort zone. Great routes, stunning scenery and the apres riding with the group was a hoot.
Thanks Jay, would certainly recommend. 👍

Having done a number of solo trips around Europe I was a bit apprehensive about going on an organised tour on my own. I needn't have worried, what a great crew on the tour, with great guides (Jay and Raz). They ensured we saw all the best roads, best scenery and took all the hassle out of planning. Having Jay in the van (how he kept up with the bikes I will never know!) was great peace of mind.

The trip was certainly challenging in places (sandstorms in the desert, washed out roads in the mountains, unpaved roads through desolate villages, mental traffic in the cities, we had it all...), and it certainly got the heart pumping, but it was reassuring having their expertise, and the security of riding those roads with new friends.

I would thoroughly recommend Overland Motorcycle Tours to anyone wanting to explore Morocco (and have a few well deserved beers with a great bunch of lads and lasses in the evening). I think the trip was exceptional VFM for the experience that I will never forget.

Many thanks Jay and Raz, much appreciated and hopefully meet again on the next tour (yep, now I'm an evangelist!). Let me know if you plan anything for Balkans, I'm in!

I also want to give a massive shout out to Tristram Congreve from Motohire Spain for renting us great bikes for the trip. Never again will I pound my bike down through France to get to the good stuff, fly-drive in future all the way!
