About
Enjoy a scenic cruise along the historic Exeter Ship Canal. Stay onboard for a 50 minute return journey or stop for lunch or a drink at a great family pub, Double Lock Inn, and return on a later boat. We have a return journey every hour from Double Locks. Our boat, 'Southern Comfort', seats 49 passengers and is also available for private hire during the day or evening. ​Our season opens on Easter Weekend each year. We operate weekends and Bank Holidays only during April, May, June and September and daily from July 15 to the end of August. Dogs, prams and bicycles are all welcome.

Highly recommend Exeter Cruises! We took a family boat trip from the quay to Double locks with 3 children under 6 years old. We stopped for a couple of hours for lunch and returned back to the quay on the boat. It was fantastic.
The three staff on board were all incredibly friendly, bringing our buggy on and off the boat for us. Very polite, kind and efficient.
It's a very fair price too, at £22 for a family 50min return trip (25mins each way).
We will definitely be taking this trip again!

I'm a sucker for a boat trip. This return trip lasting in total 50 minutes, was ideal for a short visit to the city. I was surprised that the trip was so rural, and took advantage of the fact that one did not have to return immediately but to take a later boat back So I had lunch at the very popular pub there. A little commentary would have been welcome, eg on the two derelict boats seen.

The whole boat trip was very enjoyable. Calm and relaxing. Nice views from the boat, swans
and people enjoying canoeing etc. Celebrated part of my 80th birthday on 13th August and had a private booking. Have enjoyed many trips over the years, my grandchildren love it and have an enjoyable time at Double Locks Inn with nice picnic area and play area. Ideal for hen parties etc. Looking forward to end of season trip this weekend.

Who would have thought an hour on the exeter canal could be so enjoyable and so relaxing. Both the boat driver and the two young lads helping him were pleasant, polite and knowledgeable, and the trip was a really nice escape from the city centre. Never knew this canal existed... Will definitely come back and cycle it.

This is lovely short trip (around 25 minutes) from Exeter Quay to the Double Locks pub on the Exeter Canal. You can stay on for the return trip or get off and get the boat back an hour of two later. Dogs are welcome as well. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely cruise down the river to Double Locks for my wife’s birthday. Ritchie and his crew were friendly, professional and really made it safe and enjoyable with some interesting facts thrown in along the way. Thoroughly recommend these guys. Easy to book, find on the quay and great value for money.

Great cruise down to the Double Locks where we stopped for lunch before getting a return boat back. Exeter Cruises were quick to reply to my question via Facebook messenger prior to travel. And they were great with an elderly relative - giving the right amount of support to get on and off the boat. Will be back again. Thank you.

The most epic trip ever. We loved it so much, the scenery and the sounds of the water and looking at the lush green banks of Exeter was a special moment. Would recommend this trip to anyone who likes the wind brushing through their hair. Fantastic!

I can not thank the staff enough for accommodating us with the river cruise yesterday for a hen party.
We had a lovely time and was a highlight of the day. A cheap little activity for all ages.
Friendly, relaxing and professional.

Today, we took a round a boat trip down the Quay in Exeter. The weather was beautiful and they had blankets for the little ones to cosy up in! The journey was very enjoyable and steady and we took some lovely pictures. Our captain and crew were very friendly and knowledgeable and they made us feel very welcome. Definitely recommend if you would like something calm and relaxing to do and nice day around Exeter! x
