We were pleased to take a very good free Georgian-themed walking tour of Exeter. Exeter is fortunate to have so much of its history preserved and shared by these guided tours. The tour included a quick look at an historic pub, George's Meeting House, and we returned there on our own for a good meal.

Before I commence I have to confess that I am biased. I am a Redcoat guide . These tours are free. They cover virtually the whole of the city. The tours are varied and very informative. It is very common to hear the remarks of residents declare that despite living in the city most or all of their life they were... More

Our tour guide Anne(?), was fantastic, She was very informative and had us laughing from start to finish. She even had us singing in the main street at one point! Can thoroughly recommend this tour and the icing on the cake...it's free.

There are lots of choices of guided tour. They are easy to find, the one we chose took us through Exeter and down to the cathedral. We were taken into the guildhall and the diocese quadrant - where we received information and could ask questions. It makes the history come alive and allows us into areas we didn't know about.... Can't believe the range of free tours, all c. 60 - 90 minutes in length. We had a really interesting guide, who certainly knew his history, but lacked a little in charisma and seemed slightly standoffish at first, but to be fair did warm up. Quite a bit of walking involved, but at steady pace. Wouldn't be quite as much... More

I did a couple of tours 3 years ago and 3 more in one day last week. Every one was very enjoyable and for each, although a couple of the sights were repeated, the slant of the Guides talk varied so I still enjoyed them. The Guides were all volunteers and did themselves and the city of Exeter proud.

Walking tour of Exeter, viewing historic churches, priory and hearing about the ancient wool trade. This tour was conducted by Richard Dyke, red coat guide. He was very knowledgable and able to bring the history to life. A very enjoyable tour would thoroughly recommend.

Clive, our guide, took us around the Georgian aspects of Exeter. He was an absolute mine of information and obviously loved his subject. He talked almost non-stop for the whole 90 minutes in the most engaging fashion and had us all hanging on his every word. We also learned a little about the Roman history and some from more modern...
