Mike was absolutely fantastic and so knowledgable about medieval Exeter & more. Even though it poured down his enthusiasm was never dampened & I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all he shared on the 90+ minute walking tour. What a real treat to learn so much en-route. And free too. Thanks very much Mike & Exeter City council! Glad my son's... More

Our redcoat guide Mike was very knowledgeable and friendly, and was able to tell us the history of several small chapels that we visited, as well as the dark and gloomy catacomb, relic of a cholera epidemic. Exeter has numerous ancient churches often built in Norman times, each with its own fascinating history. The tour is about 2 hours long... More

Just turn up to the Cathedral Green and look for a person in a red coat! There is a programme of walks and their starting times. Internet or tourist office will provide them. Our walk took in the Guildhall, the narrowist street in Britain and the abbots house. Live near Exeter but learnt many things and saw places I did... More

We took our visitors from Wales on the "Cathedral to Quay" tour on Saturday morning and we all greatly enjoyed it. We can't remember the name of the lovely red coat guide but she was a very entertaining lady originally from Canada/ America. We are locals but there were many very interesting things she told us that we did not... More

I did the Georgian Exeter tour, and while not the intended tour (my fault for not paying attention initially) I actually really enjoyed it! Jenny was very knowledgeable and informative, not only describing the history of the Georgian architecture around Exeter but also other historical information. She pointed out places of interest including a lovely pub I came back to... More

Robert was our guide for the 1 hour tour. He knew his stuff, was interesting and very approachable. He showed me many things I had no idea were even there. And all this for free. Very good hour spent, and will go again.

These are free tours organised by the local council, given by well trained, enthusiastic volunteers. The first trip was at night, Ghosts and Legends by a lovely guide, Ann. All manner of spookey stories were related mainly with some basis of truth, ending with a skeleton (or 2) in the cellar of a pub. We also did an excellent daytime... More

Enjoyed a tour of the Heart of Exeter today with Robert. He is an excellent guide full of historical information and great stories. Highly recommended. Multiple tours are available. Wish we had more time for others.
