- Jonathan L4 contributionsHidden ValleySuch friendly and enthusiastic staff, walked with us to the top of the valley and talked through some of the work they've done (planted nearly 100 camellias!) It's not hard to imagine how the place will develope over time and I look forward to seeing it. There's such a good balance between cultivated and natural habitat. Its a bit hidden away but well worth finding for a trip out.So very pleased to meet you and so very grateful for such a kind review. The 100 camellias are just in the first part of the valley, there are many 100ds in the whole Gardens. Please look on Facebook for many photos throughout the year.Written October 24, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 21, 2023

Spring here is particularly beautiful. It truly is a feast for the senses. The beauty of nature at her very best. These gardens are well worth a visit. Your senses will thank you for it. Just close your eyes, listen to the birdsong. After visiting, it's well worth buying some of the very healthy, reasonably priced plants. - HoolitLondon, United Kingdom95 contributionsHeaven in DevonA must visit! We arrived early (around opening time at 11am) and had these magical gardens to ourselves for a while. The grassy paths meander past colourful shrubs and trees underplanted with primroses and bluebells. It was so peaceful with only the sounds of birds and babbling streams. We ended up buying a variety of plants from the Fast Rabbit nursery. Home grown, so much cheaper and better quality than what you find in garden centres these days!So very grateful for your kind review. - pjpolden142 contributionsGreat little gardenWe visited on a horrible rainy day. We were the only people visiting and I think the owner thought we were slightly mad but we’ve brought the kids up to carry on regardless. There was a great display of camellias and rhododendrons which even the rain didn’t dampen. A lovely place that was good value, we would have stayed longer if the weather was better!Thank you so much for your kind review inspite of the dreadful weather. Would have loved to earn five stars, perhaps in better weather.Written April 18, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 18, 2024

What a surprise! This is a wonderful, independently run nursery and garden. I've bought lots of home grown plants from the nursery, but, ashamedly, I had never looked around the rest of the attraction.
With Covid restrictions, and staying local, I've had the opportunity to take the time to venture out to places on my doorstep that I hadn't seen before.
When I wandered off in the direction I had been shown, I thought I was going to be looking at some woodlands with camellias and rhododendrons. When I turned into the gateway - WOW! I was shocked at the vast valley that spread out in front of me!
This is not a manicured garden with perfect specimen plants that are immaculate (not like my garden!). It is an enormous valley of walkways, naturalised shrubs and plants and enough selection and diversity, that the 12 month family ticket is a bargain! You can spend a good half a day (bring a picnic) just enjoying the space and wildlife. The woodland area was a joy. Wildlife abounds and the birds sing their hearts out - delightful. There are huge ponds for children to spot water bugs and reptiles and so much space that even the liveliest will need to take a break.
I will be returning each month to see which plants are flowering, and what has grown up since my last visit, and, undoubtably, taking away some more plants from the nursery.

The bluebells in the woodlands today were breathtaking. I have seen many displays at various places on Dartmoor but few, if any, could match this spectacular display at
Fast Rabbit Farm. This slightly eccentric place is well worth visiting. For a fiver, it is an absolute bargain. Some of the shrubs are young and immature and probably need a good few years before they are at their prime but the woodland area around the lake is beautiful. Usually it's very quiet and all we heard was the sound of the many birds in the tall trees. A wonderful place to take your sarnies, weather permitting. There's also a good selection of plants for sale and very much cheaper than your average garden centre. Highly recommended.

We noticed a brown sign to Fast Rabbit Farm Garden and were intrigued by the unusual name. The gardens are deep in typical Devon lanes that are quite narrow but passable with care. Checking in at the poly tunnel of the garden centre plant sale, we met the owner and originator of the garden who was very welcoming. He showed us to the start of the walk personally, explaining the layout of the garden and recommending things to look out for. The garden is extensive and is still evolving having been started from virgin farmland nearly forty years ago. The walking routes are designed to allow visitors to see different vistas and appreciate the specimen trees and shrubs from all angles. The magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons were in full glory along with early cherry blossom trees and lower shrubs. The older part in the River Black valley was particularly charming in maturity, the pools have become havens for water loving plants around their margins. Back at the plant sale, we were entranced by the range and quality of the plants on offer. The owner is a very knowledgeable man who was able to advise us on the best choice for our situation and we were able to buy some superb examples of magnolias and rhododendrons we had seen in the garden at very keen prices. The whole experience was excellent and we could have spent more time there if we had thought to bring a picnic. A place for us to visit again when next in the area.

What a fantastic little gem tucked away near Dartmouth. Lovely unspoilt place - Visited gardens and found a fantastic layout of grass pathways through woods and open areas that were full of colour. Fantastic array of colours and plants. Well worth a visit and spending 2 to 3 hours wondering around. Would recommend taking something to drink and eat as there are plenty of little places to stop and sit down and take in the views. - There is also a great selection of plants to view and buy in the plant centre which were great value. Definitely worth a visit and we will be back again to visit with our family.

We went on a whim on the way back from a coast day when this place popped up on Google maps gardens to visit. Narrow lanes lead to a secret oasis covering 43 acres. We just could not get our heads around how 1 man plus the odd part time helper could have created and continue to maintain and develop such a vast site. Our timing was perhaps not the best- spring may be the peak garden moment, but it was definately worth those lanes. We sensed that the plant 'shop' - really a set of polytunnels set up by a gardener for serious gardeners - held v high quality plants and well priced too. But our thoughts were affirmed by a lady loading up plants in her car who comes back year after year to buy as, in her words 'the plants are the best'. The potting compost may be the secret.

Early October but the weather was good and we were met by the most helpful of gentleman ( we think the owner ? )
We walked into what felt like a large secret hidden garden in its own valley.
Lovely and pretty impressive when you realised the work that must have been required to create it !
Expect to take at least two and a half hours to do the forty odd acres justice.
After the walk we spent time in the well stocked poly tunnel of plants for sale - reasonably priced too.
Take time to visit - children would love it too !

We loved our trip to Fast Rabbit Farm. This is a beautuful place to wander, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and enjoy a picnic. We particularly enjoyed the woodland areas which I'm sure would look amazing in spring when the daffodils and bluebells are out.I should imagine the best floral displays would be in Spring/ early Summer, however, it is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year.It is ÂŁ5 per adult to visit which is excellent value for money, and the nursery which has a wide variety of plants to buy is free to enter. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area and would recommend visiting.

This is a wonderful back to nature garden. Full of butterflies, birds and other wildlife. Off the beaten track but signposted. Dog's on leads are welcome and the plant centre is full of interesting plants at very reasonable prices. The owners were most helpful and interesting, telling us about what wildlife we might see. We saw a particularly rare couple of butterfly species. The garden is not a formal one, as it's aim is rewilding and working with nature. This garden is a real one off gem and we wish we had visited before. We would like to return to see it during all four seasons of the year. It was very peaceful.

We went at a great time, with the rhododendrons and camellias in bloom, as well as bluebell's carpeting the woods. Our dog was also allowed (on a lead), which is great.
The walk through the different gardens took around two hours, but we could have spent longer meandering around. I'm sure we will visit again to see the gardens in another season, or just to enjoy another beautiful, scented walk.

What an amazing discovery. A spectacular and idyllic non commercial visitor experience on our doorstep. The views throughout are stunning as are many of the plants & landscaped area’s. A lovely bluebell wood and peaceful ponds and lakes only added to the experience. Our 2 yr old Grandson also enjoyed the easy walking grass trails throughout.
We will become frequent visitors at the amazing entry price of just £5 as it’s so easy to spend several hours there with something new to enjoy around every corner.

Yes dogs are welcome but on leads please. Many birds are nesting and are likely to abandon their nests if disturbed. We have just lost our resident geese with five abandoned eggs after one visitor allowed his dog to swim the lake and attack the geese.
However you are very welcome and I hope you enjoy your visit

There are two points of access of access to the Garden, both wheelchair accessible. The lower gives almost level access to the lake and the higher to the gazebo and overview of a different part of the Garden. The paths are all grassed and especially the lower valley can become wet and soft. Some wheelchairs have wide wheels but others narrow and suitable for hard dry surfaces only. It is wise to check in at the garden centre to discuss.

Dear Chorlton Girl.I am sorry you were both shocked and disappointed. Did you spend any time looking at the garden? I am responsible for posting the four "clothing optional" days on the visitor information page of the website so am surprised you failed to find it. I know the owner of the garden would be delighted to give you a free guided tour on one of the 360 clothing compulsory days to alleviate your disappointment.
