If your visit is subject to timetables of buses or trains, the complete round trip lasts 1 hour.
An hour well spent scenically and historically, with chances of seeing seals, herons along the waters edge, un addition to the continuous flow of information from the captain.
With a semi open upper deck, the lower deck is enclosed, which gives plenty of choice to the budding photographer.

Lovely one hour cruise aboard the Kinsgwear Castle (the last coal-fired paddle steamer in the UK). The highlight was spotting a seal not too far from the boat. The circular cruise went between the river mouth and near to Greenway (Agatha Christie’s home) viewing along the way Kingswear Castle and Dartmouth Castles and the Britannia Navel College.

The best thing to do on a short break in Dartmouth is to lose the car and walk Even better get a couple of ferries Go to Kingswear BUT also take the Dittisham ferry and have a beer at the FBI (the Ferry Boat Inn) The ferry is actually a small boat so make sure you book so as not to be dissappointed Timings of the return boat is an issue so check when you leave If you are having fun you can call a taxi but it will cost a bit and you have to walk up the hill to find the cab when it arrives There is a great crab shack serving local caught crabs next door to the pub all at fair prices

Took a round trip down the river Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth on the " Cardiff castle. Informative and funny commentary. Loads of wildlife e.g kingfishers, herons and little egrets to just name some birds we saw, even a few seals thrown in. Wish I had of taken my camera. Well worth a trip. Will do it again.the crew were excellent.

They offer a round robin trip. cruise down the brilliant River Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth, cfross the river to Kingwear and steam train to Paignton, then bus back to Totnes. Execllent day out and saw the Dart wildlife, Atlantic Seal, Egrets and Herons. Cormorants drying themselves on boughs of tress. A wonderful day in spite of the weather. Trip down river can take over an hour. Fully informed passengers are told about local sights along the way. This was my second such trip, and look forward already to the next one.

Hi there! Nestling just about 20mins from the city of Exeter, in a South Westerly direction off the A30, is a place waiting to be discovered by visitors to the South West. It's been there for billions of years, has folklore woven around it and the imaginations of hundreds of children young and old! People come from 'up North' to scale it's face with climbing gear, or you can take the leisurely route up the ancient treading stones to peak one, or two. This is Haytor Rock. Rising out of the earth in a rippling, granite grey mass, formed by ancient volcanic activity it's the perfect place to come on an English day, note I said day, because you can visit Haytor , Winter Spring Summer or Autumn it doesn't matter, just avoid the famous Ten Tors endurance weekend. It's reached by an uphill but easy, grassy route that rises to the foot of the Tor ( Devonshire for hill,or rock) here you can simply skirt the rock at a leisurely pace and view the surrounding countryside and other lesser Tors, like Sheeps Tor or you can climb to the top of the rock using the stone step way. Across the road is the car park. This in turn gives way to open moorland for further walking and there are fine flat mossy heathland places just perfect for a picnics, especially on a sunny warm day, much like the time we visited recently with the grandchildren. The famous Dartmoor ponies were dotted around us, and small sparkling rivulets enhanced by the recent heavy rain chortled and splashed their way beside us, perfect for keeping drinks cool after the climb up the rock. Children adore it, and see it as a massive mountain to climb, adults love it and we kid ourselves we're more nimble than we really are, the vista across the countryside - is just breathtaking. We saw some indigenous species of 'Devon Violets' growing in the heathland, and above us continuously sang skylarks & curlew, whilst stone-chats and robins chatted and sang beside us. The best bit, as if all this wasn't enough, it's free!!!!!!!! Except for the ice cream of course!

There are many ways to access the river such as with various river cruises or ferry departures. At the south end there is plenty of activity while further north it becomes very scenic and quiet. If you are under shelter, rainy days seem to be good for viewing wildlife.

Went on a boat cruise up the river dart, so much character to this little place and so many lovely photos to be taken from the trip around the harbour with its many boats and beautiful different coloured buildings!
