Two whole days of entertainment, the weather was poor so we took advantage of the readmission cheaper tickets. Two adults, one 8 year old, one 4 year old and a 6 month old baby and all had something to entertain them. My personal favourite was the bird show by David Rampling who's expertise and knowledge was outstanding as was his paintings. The magic show, galaxy experience and science show were very informative and entertaining, the children were mesmerised. The All Stars at the Milky way had a sensory section for the tiny ones, so even the 6 month old had a space where he could be stimulated on his level.
All staff were friendly, encouraging and helpful. Fabulous adventure, we arrived at 10am and left at 5pm on both days

That's just what we love to hear - thanks for letting us know that we were able to cheer up a damp couple of days for you! It's great to know that all your children enjoyed yourselves, and that our team members were as welcoming as they always are. I hope you get to visit again one day :)

This was a brilliant family day out for myself, my wife and our 5 year old daughter. Despite the torrential rain and flooding they had to deal with from the day prior, they got the vast majority of activities and attractions going. It was a bit drizzly throughout the day but that didn't stop the fun. The main roller-coaster was great fun and the cues were short all day. Even with it being busy in the main play arena, it was easy for my daughter to get onto each slide and play area quickly.
The staff were all lovely and all seemed keen to help as well as actually wanting to be there. The food was decent and reasonably priced also.
The place seems to be generally aimed at younger children, but there is enough here for young teenagers too. I even had great fun on the drop slides etc, and I'm approaching 40 years of age. We have made use of the option to get a ticket allowing reduced-price re-admission for next time we come, which we will be definitely doing.
The magic show with Merlin was fantastic fun also: this was one of several shows per day in the main arena that are available to watch live.
My daughter absolutely loved her day, as did we. I can't fault the place at all. Wonderful memories have been made, at a reasonable price. Thank you.

We have had a challenging couple of weeks to say the least ... so it makes me especially happy to know that, despite the heatwaves and then floods we are still getting reviews like yours! I'm thrilled that you all had such a great time here, and that you picked up a readmission ticket - we'll look forward to your return visit :)

Had a really enjoyable day out at The Milky Way as 3 adults. Booking tickets online was a straightforward process. We deliberately visited on the special day in April when people were supposed to be dressed as Star Wars characters - unfortunately, we didn’t see any of the staff dressed up during our visit or over 5 hours which was a shame. My Mum and brother both loved the Star Wars exhibition, so that in itself was a definite highlight. We saw both Birds of Prey shows and were impressed with the animals and the majority of commentary/information that was shared as part of these. It would have been appreciated if there was some seating for the outdoor shows e.g. a few wooden benches for those who find it difficult to stand or don’t want to sit on damp/muddy grass. The cafe had a good range of food - it was served quickly and portions were very reasonable for the price. All staff we encountered during the day appeared friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the little train ride, Cosmic Typhoon rollercoaster, taking photos by the green screen and had fun exploring the maze. The seats on the Blast Quest ride were quite restrictive and therefore made that experience an uncomfortable one. Overall, we had a great day out here! We had visited previously years ago, and were pleased that we had an experience just as good this time around. The Milky Way has a family feel but we didn’t feel out of place as a small party of adults due to the variety of activities included within the attraction.

I'm really pleased that you had such a great day with us Nicola, and thank you very much for the feedback. It's great to know that you were impressed with the Birds of Prey live shows, enjoyed the food, and that as a group of adults felt you had lots to enjoy. We will take your feedback onboard regarding seating and comfort too. I hope we get to welcome you back again soon :)

We paid £51 for 2 adults and a child and it was by no means worth it. Ok the weather was against us as it was drizzling but it was so boring. The rides were outdated, the Star Wars exhibit was just somebody’s old tatty collection, the solar system presentation was basically a school lecture and no fun for the kids at all. This place is outdated, boring and not worth the money whatsoever and we were gravely dissatisfied and disappointed and will not be returning and will not recommend to anyone. Please knock it all down and rebuild from scratch. Don’t waste your money.

Good morning Ian. The Milky Way is a family run attraction, in rural North Devon, with a loyal team of staff who all work really hard to provide a great value, fun day out for the whole family.
According to Google, we have one of the longest 'average stay' times in the region, with a varied number of attractions and shows on offer. Having won the Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Best of the Best award for the past four years it seems that we do manage to get it right for most people.
I’m genuinely sorry that we didn’t manage to get it right for you, and that you found our attraction to be so terrible. Unfortunately, we have to accept that despite our best efforts we just won’t ‘hit the mark’ for every family.
It’s such a shame that you didn’t come and talk to us on the day, to explain how dissatisfied and disappointed you were.

Disappointed that there were signs plastered all round the cafes stating that no picknicking was allowed and that you needed to purchase food and drink from them instead. So, we had to forgo eating specially packed lunches and snacks for 5 hours which with 2 hungry kids was not much fun! Yes you need your secondary spend but I consider this harsh, especially as no mention is made of this on the website or booking form.
In we therefore went to the Starlight restaurant and instead of paying about £35.00 for entrance for the 3 of us I spent almost £60 for our day out. Note wording from the Cosmic Cafes' wording;
''The Cosmic Cafe's seating is arranged around the Little Stars play area, so if you have young children you can sit back and enjoy your meal or snack whilst watching your children play. This implies you can bring a meal or snack. If not then why not state at the outset.....?
Food on offer includes, pizza, pasta, nachos, jacket potatoes, paninis, chips and children's lunch boxes as well as a tasty choice of sweet treats.
If a decent coffee is your priority you can take your pick from our freshly ground barrista offering which includes lattes, cappucinos and americanos, and we always have cakes to go alongside too.''
Is this ban allowed?

Hello David. Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'm sorry to read you were disappointed by your recent visit. It has always been our policy not to allow picnics in our cafes where food is being served. This is standard practice in the vast majority of tourist attractions and on the whole most people don’t expect to be able to go into a café and consume their own food – as it is understood that these tables and the service on offer is provided for those who buy food. I am sure you can appreciate that on busy days it is also essential, so that we are able to provide a table to anyone who purchases food. There are however, other places around the site that people do sit down to eat their own food, including the bench seating alongside our under 5’s play area. Prior to covid we were able to provide more picnic benches inside but following our covid risk assessment we had to move them to create as much space as possible for guests to be able to social distance. In addition, we simply weren’t able to provide the level of cleanliness of the picnic benches that guests expected. Throughout this time we have continued to provide plenty of picnic benches outside of planet play, which can be used for picnics or for food bought onsite – however I do appreciate the weather at the weekend was not conducive to using these.
I am sorry that you felt our website wording was misleading, this genuinely wasn’t our intention and has now been amended to ensure it’s clear. We had assumed, as it’s a café, that most people would realise that we were describing the meals and snacks that the cosmic café itself provides. We do try to let people know about the picnic bench situation prior to booking – it’s included in our essential before you visit information which we encourage people to view on the book tickets page by including a link and telling people to ‘make sure you read our essential before you visit information prior to booking’.
The good news is, with the pandemic situation now improving we have recently undertaken an updated risk assessment and I’m pleased to say that we are now able to reintroduce a number of indoor picnic benches in one area, with a cleaning station provided for guests to be able to clean their own table before use – we are working to have this ready for the February half term.
It’s fair to say that the last two years have been a challenge, adjusting at short notice to government rules as well as changes in guest expectations, whilst also doing what we felt was right AND still ensuring the business remained viable. Hopefully we can look forward to easier times ahead when things like picnic benches are no longer an issue!

An amazing place for the kids, worth the price even more with the cheaper re-entry voucher, just make sure you pick one up on your way out. Next year definitely going to get a season pass. If your kids like indoor play areas it's the place for you. The dodgems suit both older children and younger with the no bumping younger children session. The rest of the activities are great along with the ninja stars at extra cost but worth it. The shows are really worth watching with merlin and the bird of prey shows. The staff are really friendly and helpful can't fault them at all. Greg (aka the balloon man my kids have come to call him) is brilliant with all the kids. My son has looked forward to seeing him every time we've been which this is our 6th time this year. There's so much for the kids to do in one day it's really worth a second visit. Looking forward to returning next year.

We got there about 12.30 and were there until 4.30 when it closed.
Make sure your kids wear trousers and long sleeve top to enjoy the death slides, I didn’t realise and mine were in shorts and T-shirt’s as it’s warm.
I don’t really understand why the Ninja stars thing was an additional cost, it seemed chaotic and very busy, not well organised for social distancing. My daughter did it once and that was enough, the waiting time was ridiculous.
It was disappointing that the rides closed for staff to have lunch breaks, I would have expected there to be enough staff to rotate to cover breaks, perhaps covid has caused reduced staff? Given that we got there when we did (12.30) by the time we then went out to queue up for the rides we were told they were shutting for half an hour which was annoying.
The best part by far was the falconry display, the guy was awesome, the birds were amazing and it was incredible to see the birds swoop so low around the crowd.
We didn’t get round to the maze or the train ride as we did pottery painting and ran out of time. We also only caught the last part of the Merlin show due to being in queues for the rides. I have to say there didn’t seem to be much in the way of enforcing social distancing when waiting for the rides, as in markers on the floor. The rides were cleaned over each time which was good to see and masks to be worn inside.
All in all an expensive afternoon out but the kids came out happy so that’s the main thing. I was surprised there wasn’t any out door play park equipment at all, seemed a shame with all the ample space outside. It wouldn’t be somewhere I would come back to if I was in the area again.

Dear Sara.
Thanks for your visit and feedback. I’m sorry we weren’t quite able to meet your expectations despite our best efforts in difficult circumstances.
I apologise that we had to close some of the rides for staff breaks on the day of your visit and can understand your frustration. This was due to some of our staff unexpectantly having to self isolate. Rest assured we always aim to keep all rides open here if possible during busier periods, despite only operating at 50% of our normal capacity at present.
The Ninja Stars course (our newest attraction) does carry a small charge because an electronic wristband has to be supplied to take part and also because the course has limited capacity. This wristband can be kept as a souvenir and used again for future visits. Capacity is being restricted more than normal at the moment as we are operating the course on a one way system, with family groups let in one at a time to allow for social distancing. We also close the course during the day to sanitise the equipment. It’s for these reasons that the wait times can sometimes be a little longer.
Social distancing markers are present on our rides and we encourage all guests to socially distance wherever possible, however there is a point where we have to let our guests take some responsibility themselves. I’m sure you can appreciate that this is a very difficult time for business such as ours trying to strike the right balance to keep both staff and customers happy, and unfortunately we have to accept that we won’t be able to get it right for everyone.
Although we’re unlikely to see you again we’re grateful for your visit and I’m pleased you managed to enjoy our bird of prey shows and that your children left happy.
Best wishes.

What an amazing day! We knew the weather would be wet today, so we chose to visit the Milky Way. We are from the West Midlands and last visited around 6 years ago, so we were slightly apprehensive about how appropriate it would be for our two boys, now 9 and 11. However, the positive reviews on TA reassured us and we bought tickets online last night.
We received a superbly enthusiastic and informative welcome on our arrival from a lovely young woman and after spending a surprisingly long amount of time enjoying the collection of Star Wars memorabilia on display (one man’s private collection!) we headed outside to enjoy the Cosmic Typhoon rollercoaster. Now we were not expecting a Thorpe Park experience and nor should you, but we did enjoy the rollercoaster so much that we immediately had a second go. Then the maze which we all loved. As the weather deteriorated we headed inside and enjoyed the large amount of indoor attractions.
The bird show was amazing. Dave has such an incredible knowledge of the zoology and the detail he shares about his birds’ life stories is awesome. He is also very funny indeed! Sadly he wasn’t able to do the outdoor show in the afternoon due to the rain and fog. But we loved Merlin’s entertaining magic show instead! Interactive, funny and quite simply good old fashioned family fun. What an incredible pair of guys you have at the Milky Way!
Our boys literally spent hours on the indoor activities. So wonderful to have a proper old fashioned drop slide, just like the ones I remember from my childhood in the 80s and 90s! Never ever get tired of that!!! And the Ninja challenge activity was simply brilliant too. Good value for money at £1 for each go (after the initial £3 for the wristband and first go).
We were still there at the end of the day when the very polite staff asked us if we could move to a table slightly closer to the exit so they could carry on with their cleaning!
Your staff are your greatest asset - all of them were wonderful!

Thanks so much Neil - all of your comments are very much appreciated and really help to boost morale at what can be a very intense time of year that has also been made more than a little challenging by the weather this week!! I'm so pleased that you enjoyed all we have to offer, and totally agree with you when it comes to our team - they really are fantastic, and absolutely key to our success. For the admission price there's not enough there to warrant the cost. All the family were thoroughly disappointed, dragged it out to last 3 hours including lunch! So there's 2 roller coasters, a dodgem ride, laser thingy ride and a train ride. The indoor play area has been shrunk considerably after visiting many years ago to make way for an extra chargeable activity. There's no outdoor play areas. The food is extortionate and the pizza came out burnt. Probably wouldn't revisit.

Good morning. We’re so disappointed that you felt your visit was only worth 1 star – especially as this is the first 1 star review we’ve received in nearly 12 months. The Milky Way is a family run attraction, in rural North Devon, with a loyal team of staff who all work really hard to provide a great value, fun day out for every family. I’m genuinely sorry that we weren’t able to achieve this for your family.
It’s a real shame you didn’t come and speak to us about your concerns whilst on site, as we may have been able to help. We’re wondering whether you missed some of our outdoor attractions including our two giant outdoor jumping pillows, gravity rider donut slide and maze during your visit. It would also appear you didn’t go to any of our shows, which we know are the highlight of a visit for many of our guests.
We’re also disappointed that you weren’t impressed with the changes we’ve made to the main play area since your last visit. I wonder if you realise that we have removed a wall so the space is actually bigger now and benefits from natural light and seating, as well as the Ninja Stars interactive assault course. Whilst we did remove part of the old play area during the overhaul all of the popular parts remain, including the death slide, three lane astra slide and double drop slide. Fortunately, Ninja Stars has proved to be a huge hit with most guests (children and adults alike!) - plus children love the digital wristband, which is provided within the cost, as it gives them a branded souvenir from their day.
Fortunately, from our reviews we know that 91% of our reviewers rate us as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’, which is the reason we’ve been awarded a Trip Advisor’s Best of the Best Award for 6 years running (the only attraction in the South West), so hopefully this shows that we do get it right for most people. Also, according to Google, our average visit time is 5 hours, so that does suggest that most guests find plenty to do and receive good value for money.
However, we also understand that despite our best efforts, we will not get it right for everybody on every occasion and we are genuinely sorry that this was the case for your family. Please rest assured that I will speak with the café team regarding your burnt pizza, that was disappointing to hear, and not reflective of our high food standards. Best wishes and please do enjoy the rest of your Easter.
P.S While we are ranked up there with the UK’s larger theme parks, guests should not come to us expecting Alton Towers and thrill rides. We would strongly recommend to everyone to take the time to look on our website to see what we’re about before visiting. We are a much smaller and welcoming adventure park (with far smaller queues) trying to offer something for all ages for the family to enjoy together.

We visited here with our children aged 7 and 12. It's a rather random, quirky place but we had a really good day and pleased we decided to visit.
Highlights were definitely the Ninja Stars and the Birds of prey display. You can keep your Ninja stars wristbands and play another 20 minute game for £1.50 so that was really reasonable.
Birds of prey show was brilliant, it was lovely to see how much David cares about his Birds. We also bought some of his fab art work in his little shop. My son loved his dry sense of humour.
We also watched the science and magic/talent shows which were a bit odd but quite amusing. Aimed towards younger children but we did enjoy them. We also loved the bigger roller coaster.
Sci fi museum was strange but we quite liked the randomness of the whole place and really enjoyed our day out!

Thanks so much for your visit! We are a little quirky - family owned, and we've 'evolved' over the years from a working farm, to a farm park, to an adventure park - but we like (and others say) to think that's what makes us such fun and totally unique! I really hope you get to visit us again soon :)

Out of curiosity and because I’ve told friends about The Milky Way when they say they’re going on holiday in Devon could this be the same Milky Way I visited with my son probably 25-28 years ago, was a working farm and you could pet/feed the animals and milk the goats in a barn etc? The farmer had a fantastic sense of humour and great banter with visitors. Thank you

Hi. Yes this was us. Although we’re very different now, we’re a spaced themed adventure park rather than a working farm. We no longer have animals (only birds of prey) but have things like play areas and rides.

It depends when you last visited? We have added Ziggy’s Blast Quest (a laser shooting ride) this year along with a brand new shop and entrance. Last year we added a large outdoor donut slide and balloon room. I hope this helps.

We went as a party of 10, with 6 to 13 year olds and grandparents too and we all had a fab time and thought it was excellent value for money. There are 3 main theme park rides, at least one is for older kids and we all went on lots. There are outdoor trampolines, ringoes, really interesting bird displays, pottery, a maze and archery. All of which kept our teenagers engaged. I think it's fun for all of the family!
Can you bring pet dog

Hello
Thank you for your enquiry. Well behaved, friendly dogs kept on a lead are welcome on site. We just ask that you please do not enter the bird of prey shows, bird of prey centre, the carpeted play areas including the new Little Stars area for under 7's.
We also require all dog owners to sign a form on entry to show that they understand and agree to the above.
I hope this helps and we can look forward to welcoming you (and your dog) soon.

Mixed weather reports for the week. Is it better to visit on the rainy day, or the sunny ones? Is much outdoors? I well be visiting with a 3yo. Thanks.

Hi. We have added more outdoor attractions in the past few years with the jumping pillows and new Gravity Rider slide however it is true to say we still offer more undercover facilities than anywhere else in North Devon so we are very well geared up for bad weather. So it just really depends if you want to make use of our outdoor rides and attractions. I would suggest taking a look at our website.
I hope this helps and we look forward to welcoming you.

Hi :) What are the queues like at Christmas time, please? We are thinking of visiting on 23/12/18...
Thanks

Hi Claire. Queues for the rides are fine around this time of year. The only queue you’ll really experience is for Santa’s grotto but he’s defiantly worth the wait as he’s the real deal! The kids can even play in the play area while one of you queues for your turn. However we are attempting to improve queue times this year with visits to Santa only available by booking online where you can select a morning or afternoon visit. I hope this helps and we can look forward to welcoming you.

Hi
Do you need to book the shows that you want to see before you visit the milky way adventure park?
If not do you just book when there?
Many thanks Hannah

Hi Hannah. No you do not need to book to see any of our shows. They are included in the entrance fee. I hope this helps. Paul.
