St Ives Storyteller Shanty Baba has been enthralling and entertaining...

St Ives Storyteller Shanty Baba has been enthralling and entertaining visitors to the town for the past decade. Check out his Lantern Ghost Storywalk..."the darker side of St Ives". It is a night that will haunt you for a long time to come. As an eerie darkness falls over the town, come with Shanty, as he light his hurricane lantern to tell you stories of ghosts, smugglers, murderers and other spirits of the night! And if you stay at the end, he will tell you a technique he learnt while living with a yogi in India that will let you look into the shadow lands beyond. No ifs, no buts. If you dare! His St Ives Pirate Walk is a broadside of entertainment, with pirate stories, instruction in the code and lessons in piratespeak. It is a fun filled youyage of piratical mayhem and laughter that appeals to young and old alike. Come dressed as pirate crew!

Our family of 4 (kids aged 7 and 8) thoroughly enjoyed the Pirate Walk. St Ives is stunning, and having such passionate local knowledge can only enhance an evenings stroll... Shanty oozes enthusiasm and delivers stories with a lot of energy and theatre. Take layers as the temperature drops suddenly when your out on the cliff paths - and be... More

We did the pirate walk with Shanty Baba. The walk lasts about 1 ¼ hours and involves a good walk around St Ives. There were a number of children on the walk (some as young as 6 or 7) and the walk was also perfectly pitched for them. Lots of tales and fun for children and adults alike.

An excellent evening of theatre. Inspired a ten year old to research the historical authenticity the next day.

We enjoyed our hour with Shanty. Great to hear some history thrown in with the ghost stories. Not too scary for younger children either.

I was really looking forward to this walk, from reading the reviews I wasn't expecting a factual ghost tour, but a fun, dramatisation of ghost stories. how wrong was I. maybe I missed the point, but there was maybe 1 'story' that was loosely based on a ghost story. the rest is a mix of highly imaginative stories about grisly... Along with some 20 others I joined the Ghost walk which turned out to be an excellent tour of the town mixed with history and ghostly tales. Where Shanty scores so highly is his storytelling ability and dramatic style which has us the audience in his grip. Great stuff! On balance not suitable for young children(due to finishing late) or... More

Excellent way to spend a few hours in St Ives We joined the ghost tour Entertaining blend of local history, mixed with some tales of the ghostly world delivered with a great sense of theatre As an added bonus for those new to St Ives, it is also a good way to explore the area around the harbour Highly recommended

What a fantastic experience this was. Shanty is so good at telling these stories of St Ives. Keeping you gripped. Stopping at different parts of St Ives, including the cemetery. Myself and my daughter (19) had been planning a ghost walk with Shanty way before our holiday. My youngest daughter (13) ended up joining us too....so glad that we did... More
