Excellent beach with a weekly (Tuesday) open air cinema across summer, we watched an afternoon showing of The Greatest Showman - thoroughly enjoyed it. Showings sell out quickly so book in advance to avoid disappointment. VIP tickets best, include popcorn, Gin or soft drink and deck chairs at the front. However, seating was provided for standard tickets and you could get pretty near the front if you arrived early.

Well what a way to blow the cobwebs off! Lovely golden sand and the sea was just the most vibrant turquoise blue. The waves where breaking high over the cliffs and rocks, really very invigorating.

Easy to get to and safe to walk on.

Porthminister in my opinion is one of the best beaches in the country. Lovely soft, white, golden sand and clear waters. You almost feel like you are abroad. There are a few cafes / bars in the area and also a toilet block. We visited back in May when the food fair was on. We had a great time at the beach, but beware the seagulls as they have become a menace. They have obviously learnt over time that pasties & food come in brown paper bags as they stole a postcard off us that was in a brown paper bag! The postcard was in the basket underneath the pushchair and we were shooing them away but they couldn’t have cared less. They were desperate for what was in the bag (obviously thought it was food), and they didn’t give in till they’d taken it. My advice is to cover everything, even if it isn’t food. Don’t let the seagulls put you off though as if you have nothing on show they leave you alone. This is my favourite beach in the country.

This beach is outstanding, with a fair bit of seating available near to the cafe. The cafe serves food and drink and alcohol if you want it, we certainly enjoyed a beer, soaking up the sun. Another thing that strikes you is how clean the beach is and how clear the sea is.

I'd certainly recommend it for a day out.

Superb clean beach. Beautiful sand and great location. Clean toilets available. Dogs allowed early and after 6pm, I think this is only a temporary arrangement. Some facilities in the beach. Life guard on duty on Sunday 5th July. Lots of space to social distance on the beach with a few bins scattered around. As it’s a bay it’s sheltered and the waves weren’t too big. Tide doesn’t come in too much. You can also use a portable bbq on this beach. Porthminster restaurant situated on the restaurant. They also have a bar with a grassed area with seating.

Great beach with fine white sand and crystal clear water. Cafe, bar, beach shop and watersports all available and enviable scenic backdrops of St Ives makes for picture post card pboto opps.

Some smaller waves for kids to go boarding but not for serious enthusiasts - really this is just the perfect family beach. When the tide is put, you can walk all the way across to St Ives harbour

Parking is an issue and the pesky seagulls are a nuisance but there's barely any seaweed (so no pungemt smells) and for a perfectly clean and safe beach you can't beat Porthminister.

Great clean beach with beautiful clear water and sand. Nice views for when visiting The Tate St Ives too. Would recommend the surfing and the coastal path for a complete day out for families couples or alone

A beautiful white sandy beach. Family friendly, clean and good facilities available - restaurant, cafe, watersports and the United Beach Mission team in the summer holidays who are brilliant with footy, volleyball, tug of war and games and stories for the kids.
The toilets aren't the most pleasant, but at least they're available!

We were staying over an hour and half drive away but found this beach during our stay and went back several times. There is Kayaking available and the sea is amazing with crystal clear waters it really is like being abroad. It’s great for young kids as only has small waves and even has a restaurant on the beach. Plenty of space to social distance and everyone respecting of this. Only thing need to mention is that the parking in St Ives is quite a walk up the hill but it is worth it.
