Nice bay with excellent beach a short walk from the train station and St ives centre. There are cafes and a restaurant here offering varying menus..snacks or full menu. Other facilities here include toilets and deckchair hire. Beware the seagulls in open areas when feasting!

The promenade provides a lively environment for walking and relaxing with the Lifeboat station at one end and the seafront buzzing with galleries, restaurants and bars. Even the Salvation Army had a fair on when we were there. Beyond the Lifeboat station the beach becomes...More

Great place for deep thoughts, a good latte and scones. Easy to get to from the street. Only draw back was there were 8 toilets but only one open over the school break, what a pity

Always beautifully clean at this beach. Been visiting for 64 years. Always enjoyed cup of tea and cheese and pickle sandwiches from the shop.

Always a lovely beach regardless of the time of year, nicely graded so does not get too deep too quickly. The Porthminster (resturant) is always worth a visit for a coffee and slice of cake while you are there.

The nearest beach is the station car park that’s usually full, the one we use would be too far away, you could park carbis bay then get a train in if your not staying in st Ives sorry if not much help.

Hi all Just wondered when confirmation will be if the fireworks will be taking place on Porthminster beach this year? Google has failed me but I know it's not usually confirmed until later j the year. Thanks all

Relaxing after a long drive (2 Replies)
Hi all, we are travelling down to St Ives with prospects of a 7 hour journey this Saturday (2 children in tow), can anyone recommend somewhere nice in St Ives/Carbis bay that we could relax in after the journey and have a few pints. Looked at Porthminster but at £5 a pint it may be an expensive few hours for us :) , shame as the little ones could have played on beach..

There's the Sloop Inn at the other end of the beach with great sea views. Plenty of places to buy a pasty and an ice-cream and relax on the beach though, just walk along the sea front and the road parallel to it!
Rainy day & restaurant suggestions (6 Replies)
Hello My boyfriend and I are visiting St Ives for a week at the beginning of August. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some nice restaurants that we could visit (we have already booked the Porthminster beach cafe & Porthmeor cafe) and also suggestions of things to do if it rains! We will have a car with us & are also staying near the train station at Porthminster beach. Many thanks.

Good choices. I am off to lovely St Ives for my fourth visit this year and my foody highlights are breakfast or brunch at Porthmeor, lunch at Porthgwidden and dinner at Porthminster. At Easter I ate at the Seafood Cafe on Fore Street which was good. This month's Coast magazine has some suggestions including the Gurnards Head and another country pub. If you can manage afternoon tea it is nice to walk or train to the Carbis Bay Hotel. Rainy days - all the usual stuff. I enjoyed the latest...More
