NB please remember that sightings of specific species cannot be guaranteed and that we advertise this fact widely. Therefore the most useful and accurate reviews of our company rate us on the factors we can directly control e.g. customer service, politeness, ease of booking, quality of welcome and so on, rather than whether the reviewer saw the exact species they wanted. Marine Discovery is shut between November and March due to weather constraints and winter maintenance. If in doubt, call to check.

Booked into Marine Discovery this afternoon and had a fantastic three and a half hours although we were not fortunate enough to see many mammals there was plenty of interesting bird life during the trip. This activity is not a trip around the bay with a knotted handkerchief hat and sunglasses but far more challenging and rewarding. On our trip... More

Booked on the 3 hour excursion. Your vessel is a catermaran and there is plenty of space onboard. After a full safety brief and the donning of waterproofs, we were off. After a short visit to the island of Mousehole where we were able to see gray seals, it was off down the coast. It can be a little bumpy,... More

My wife and myself went recently on a three hour trip with Marine Discovery. We wondered whether we would sail as it was quite windy. Had three hours of getting wet (shouldn't have sat at front), trying to catch glimpses of sea life in sometimes rough conditions (failed generally) and got wind blown. So we didn't see a lot but... We took the 3 hour trip with our 7 and 9 year olds in July. Amazing wildlife surrounded us and we were lucky enough to see porpoises, dolphins, gannets, seals and lots of bird life. The sailing experience was lovely and it was nice to follow the animals under sail power rather than noisy motor. The skipper was really knowledgeable... More

Great trip on a catamaran on which we used the engines on the outbound trip and sailed back most of the way which was lovely. Good to have a knowledgeable guide who provided just the right amount of info and stories yet allowing everyone to enjoy the trip. Saw porpoises on the way out then treated to a wonderful experience... More

We booked one of the 3hr trips with marine discovery after attempting to book with one of their rivals (let's call them Ariel the little...) but as they were shockingly rude we looked elsewhere. So glad we did! Was night and day in terms of customer service levels. Hannah- you're an absolute credit to your company! Didn't see much wildlife... More

It was pleasant to sail rather than motor, as I suppose most similar trips must. Saw a few seals, porpoises and plenty of seabirds. No dolphins unfortunately but then wildlife doesn't perform to order. Knowledgeable and friendly crew.

Hi, thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed the sailing. We say this a lot, but it's worth repeating, that at no point do we call this a "dolphin watching trip". Though we see dolphins frequently at certain times of year - in fact this summer (2016) we have seen them on more trips than we haven't - we... More

Really enjoyed this boat ride! It was due to be on the Monday of our holiday but unfortunately there was really bad weather so it got moved to Wednesday afternoon. The lady on the phone at the company moved this for me and my family. I then rung up on Tuesday to check if it's still on and it was... More

Hello Gemma, thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed the boat trip and the sightings. I'm a little puzzled by your comments about signage though. When you booked you received a very clear map with your confirmation which you said you had got, and you also phoned up to ask for directions from our staff in the office the day... More

This was a last minute decision but it turned out to be the highlight of the holiday. The people that take you out on the catamaran are marine biologists so know the signs on the sea to spot wildlife. We saw a minke whale, some porpoises and some dolphins. I will always remember a dolphin jumping in front of me,... More

Hi, I'm very glad you enjoyed yourselves and thank you very much for posting your feedback. We hope to see you back another time. We have certainly had an excellent summer in 2016 for dolphins and porpoises, and now the minke whales are starting to appear too (never as common a sight). Online reviews are not something we as a... More

Very professional, knowledgeable staff. Went out on a rather choppy day but felt safe as everyone wears a life jacket. Saw porpoises, a sun fish, seals and lots of birds. I did get soaking wet so make sure you wear shoes and clothes you don't mind getting wet or though if you stay in the back of the boat or... More
