    The clearest bluest sea
Just stunning, it actually was as lovely as the photos make out. Sea was perfectly clear, beach was massive at low tide. Wish we had taken a picnic as limited choices of food and drink nearby. Also see review of gulls rest!

    Highly recommended!
What a fantastic beach! As you travel down from the National Trust car park, there are dunes and a small stream that you can pitch up at for the day. When we went, there was a surf hire van on the beach. There was also a van selling drinks and sausage rolls - please note that is was cash only! There are no toilets on the beach, you will have to make the trip back towards the car park. Even with that in mind, I’d highly recommend this beach to everyone!

Perfect, clean beach with stunning scenery
Holywell Bay is one of my favourite places, and I believe one of the best beaches in Cornwall. We stayed at the local Parkdean site which is a 10 minute walk onto the sand and really convenient for a regular beach visit on holiday. The beach itself has a reasonably large National Trust car park as well as a small private car park next to a café onto the beach. The beach is lifeguarded in high season and the sand is spotless with no litter inside throughout. Are we there. There are caves rock pools and dunes enough for every interest. We hired a surfboard from our holiday site. However, the waves on this occasion were quite time to say the least, however, I have seen them much better. I would recommend for surfing that a trip to Perranporth or Newquay in other direction would give better surf. The south-west coastal Path runs through Holywell Bay and it is a great walk up onto the cliffs and around to Perranporth, and also in the other direction to Polly joke beach and Crantock beyond. A beautiful beach with stunning scenery over Gold rocks that is regularly used as a filming location for Poldark and other TV productions.

    Gorgeous bay for a swim
Visited early evening when the sun was shining and we had a really nice swim in the sea. Really beautiful and clean beach. Lots of swimmers, surfers and body boarders out. Nice little cafe and pub to get a drink and ice cream too.

    Beautiful Sandy beach
This is such a lovely unspoiled beach with a vast expanse of sand meaning that even when it gets busy here you can still have a bit of privacy. There is a big national trust car park and the walk to the beach from there is only about 5 minutes. If you visit, try and avoid the Gull Rock Cafe (you will pass it on your walk down) it’s overpriced, the food is very average and the menu is very limited.

    Amazing views and scenery
We always return to Holywell Bay on every visit to Cornwall. It’s one of the nicest beaches I have been to in this country and abroad! Would recommend if you’re staying anywhere in Cornwall and you like the sand and sea you give it a visit, highly doubt you would be disappointed!

Holywell Bay is fantastic. Shame about the Sharks who operate under the name of Smart Parking.. Near one of the beach entry points. We parked, paid the necessary fee in the machine, enjoyed a stroll, and returned and expired car park within the alloted time. A couple of days ago I received a very uncompromising letter saying I had not paid and that I had to pay sixty pounds if I did not appeal, and if I did appeal it would be one hundred pounds plus ten pounds admin fees... How come as I have a ticket which proves I paid.. So after much research which would take too long here it appears they have still got the power to make me pay, which very unwillingly I have.. I must be careful about the language I use on this site so I will advise all readers they have got the system set up that legally you cannot win.. I know that sounds incredible. If you don't believe me better luck and let me know how you did it. Very questionable business practice and sleight of hand with the law.. So be warned.. They seem to be in the process of changing their name, which may be part of their slippery ways..
All I can say it was my first visit to this beautiful spot and was unaware of an honest car park up the road namely the national Trust. I will not return to the area again. As to the so called business people who are involved I can only hope they wake up one day with a very uncomfortable conscience. The system works that whoever land belongs to gets the fees for parking, and the smart parking company keep the fines.. I wonder if you can guess my alternative
way of describing the practice of these people, but politeness does not allow..

My favourite beach in Newquay, huge sandy beach also dog friendly all year around. There is a cafe and toilets at this beach and a lovely caravan park nearby which we are planning to stay at next time we visit.
Highly recommend to visit

This beach is so stunning even on a cloudy day. It offers clear waters, sand dunes and lots of areas to explore.

I would just be aware that it is a national trust (NT) site, so it is limited in terms of facilities. However, it could offer you free parking if you are a NT member otherwise it’s about £4.

The cloudy and blustery conditions did not deter the youngsters from having a good time here. Sand was nice and soft so the kids had lots of area to run around and plenty of places to climb. The beach is a national trust site so was very easy to find and the car park conveniently located within a short walk. Only negative was that i did spot some dog waste on the beach which was maybe down to bad luck. However for a place which allows for dogs, it owners should really have a bit more respect and do a better job in cleaning up their mess especially in a beautiful site such as thjs.

The beach has everything. Sand dunes to slide down. A little stream the kids can play in with small trout in. Lots of shells to find. A great surf and a little hire shop. When the tide is out you can explore the rock pools and the caves. We walked from our caravan park so the only downside would of been parking which seems to be expensive all around

Visit at low tide to take advantage of being able to enter the cave at the eastern end of the beach. The beach was almost empty in early October and when the sun came out the golden sand and azure sea were spectacular. If very windy, contact lens wearers should beware as its difficult to reach the beach without getting sand in your face! Limited car parking at the side of the road was free and there are free toilets opposite the pub too. Plenty of paid parking is available in the National Trust car park (free for members). A great spot for a picnic and a walk up and over the dunes and along the full length of the beach to the cave and back takes about an hour.

This carpark is designed to give you a fine, you cannot get signal. please park in the National Trust car park. Much better. And only one minute away. I ended up the £50 fine. Some people have been fined even when they have even been able to produce a ticket for the car park!! Do not be fooled!! It has cameras. Great Beach though it his amazing and has great sunsets enjoy. If only I could have rated the car park separately I would have done 5 stars for the beach.

With 45mph winds whipping onshore and creating horizontal sandstorms, we headed into the more sheltered dunes with the dog. What an amazing landscape - tall grass covered dunes that rise like mini mountain peaks and edges of bare sand eroded by winds.. No wonder one enterprising family with boogie boards were surfing/sledging down the dunes rather than in the crashing waves. Parts of the dunes were so sheltered that you literally couldn't feel the wind, and just bask in the sunshine. Magical place, good car park and no nasty narrow lanes to navigate. Only drawback? Payment for the large National Trust car park is via app or coins, and I couldn't get any reception on my recent smart phone to pay via app. We JUST had enough coins between us after months of contactless payments…
