- plumber6030Southampton, United Kingdom5 contributionsHad an Absolutely Cracking NightCalled in to see the Radio Head tribute band as a favourite track is "Fade Out" (Checked first to see if they played it!) Had a meal which was also lovely. Ending up staying until close the service was great and unlike some places the staff made us feel very welcome. Thank you to all there Special thanks to Fergal and Tom. The band were fantastic and the guitar player "Owen" is just brilliant. We will be back and will check what bands are playing, Cheers Everyone. The Plumber (Southampton)Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 8, 2023

Scruffy and run down about covers it. I really did not fancy eating here at all. Moved onVisited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 26, 2024
- Vicky PSale, United Kingdom35 contributionsDog friendly pub with tasty grubWe popped in with our two dogs for lunch, whilst on holiday in Looe. The pub is a bit dated but the the tables were clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. The menu is traditional pub grub but it was freshly cooked and tasty. They get a thumbs up from us.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 13, 2024

Very organised during the covert pandemic. The food was very reasonably priced helped by the fact they were doing the Eat out to help out deal!
The landlord was very friendly, service was prompt. we will definitely use this place again. Can recommend the lasagne!

I have never left a review before as i always stick to the adage '' if you can't say anything nice , don't say anything at all'' ...but i am obliged to leave one today.
We arrived at about 1345hrs and had ordered our food by 1350hrs. It wasn't a very welcoming start as the bar maid was surly and unwelcoming . We ordered two meals : Ham , Egg& Chips and a Mexican Chicken We waited 40 mins for our food but when it arrived it was very disappointing...the Chips WERE edible but the ham was processed wet slices , this is NOT what i expect when ordering ham in a pub.The ' Mexican Chicken' appeared to be straight out of a' bag' ( forgive me if it was home-cooked ) and consisted of a piece of spiced chicken breast covered in a few dry nachos. No-one checked in with us to check that the food was OK , ( probably a good job ). The food was cheap and prepared without thought. All in all very disappointing.
It takes A LOT for me to complain. Won't go there again.

Outstanding Sunday dinner. We love a Sunday roast and every time we eat out there’s never enough gravy but even before our food was on the table they bought a big boat of it out. Service was brilliant, a young lady took care of us and she went about & beyond to accommodate us as we had a nervous dog with us so she made sure no dogs were around us. Desserts were more the generous. Definitely worth a visit and a good high around the area.

Walked very friendly staff, happy to put more water in dog bowl. We asked about food, just stopped we were told.
So drank up and went to Golden Guinea as suggested. Unfortunately they would not serve us as our dog was to big and couldn’t fit under table😮
So we went to a shop nearby and bought a pastie each and some extras.
I thought I would go the Ship and ask if we can take out food in and drink their beer, I was told no we can’t.
Seems strange what harm and more revenue from more drinks bought.

We always used to visit this pub when we come to Looe, but we were very disappointed this time. It’s run very down and dirty now, the seats and table were broken / wonky. The staff were rude and acted like they were doing you a favour. They charged £8.25 for a sandwich made with cheap Tesco value bread and cheap chips that tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The coffee machine was broken, but a regular told us that it was never in use , as they wanted people to drink from the bar. The waitress who brought our food barked at us she was so harsh and practically threw our food on the table. A local / regular said to us if want a rough and ready pub then it would be fine, but it’s more of a locals pub now. I don’t recommend eating there. Very disappointing on reflection we wished we’d left when we noticed how run down it was.

Dirty and Uninviting pub. Tables sticky. We ordered Natchos for the children and emphasised “no jalapeño “. True to their word there were no Jalapeños but the dish was covered in hot cheesy Chilli sauce. My gammon steak was served on a tea plate hoping to make the meal appear bigger. It was tough and small. It was a poor canteen meal. Never again.

Very poor service. Staff too busy drinking there home brew from a malibu bottle to bother with customers. Couldnt even get a drink of water for our dog! Wont bother giving them my custom or money again!! ONE TO AVOID.

Went in for lunch, big mistake. They refused to serve me a cup of tea, couldn't get the gist of why, they just waffled on about something.
Ordered beer battered cod goujons with chips and peas. Received breaded cod goujons, burnt on the outside stodgy and undercooked on the inside, about 2% cod, frozen chips, still frozen in the middle, had a very odd smell and tang, cold hard peas.
Himself had the steak, chips and peas. Steak paper thin and burnt, same undercooked chips and cold hard peas.
My advise, avoid.

Really good pub, serving some fantastic beers. I didn’t eat, but looking at the menu the prices looked reasonable. Staff were very knowledgable on the beers. Pub was also very organised with track and trace with customers having to wait at a rope by the door before being shown to a table. Table service reasonably good depending on how busy the pub is.
Will definitely be making a return visit.
