About
The Wooldown is an area of open space in East Looe. It is a beautiful piece of open countryside - an area of fields and hedgerows that has been miraculously preserved within the town. Situated high above East Looe’s town centre, it commands wonderful vistas over the sea, the coast and St.George’s Island. It is treasured by the local community as a wonderful place to walk, explore and to sit. It remains much as it was when farmland was secured for the enjoyment of the people of Looe. The fields and hedgerows are now being managed to encourage biodiversity. Working with Kernow Ecology, a local conservation consultancy, East Looe Town Trust has established two bee glades above the SW Coast Path, and a wild flower meadow in the Observatory field. Looe's beacon is on the crown of the hill and lit to mark national celebrations. Dog friendly and litter free'

Amazing views over to Looe Island and down over Looe. A lovely open space to let kids and dogs run off some energy. You can follow the coastal path down to east Looe beach or in the other direction to plaidy. It's a bit steep in places. A lovely place to sit and relax and just watch the world go by.

A lovely quiet spot for easy wandering or just sitting and enjoying the view over to Looe Island and out to sea. You can cross this way to head to Polperro or just enjoy the space for it's own tranquility.

Stop dog fouling, Fullstop! this still goes on in the 21st century. The wooldown is used mainly by dog owners, so the dogs can do their mess. I think most owners clean up but some don't. Then of course the traces are left for children to run through!

Not good for this day and age when we are clear on the dangers of dog fouling, and who wants to see dogs pooing and then have to watch it being cleaned up. One positive most people seem to clean it up , but STILL?

Thank goodness for places like this in our world. A natural area of grassland with an old canon and great views over the sea to Looe Island and the harbour.

We are so pleased that you enjoy the Wooldown area - and the amazing views. Our team are working hard to manage the area and conservation is very important to us - hence the wild flower meadow and the bee glades to encourage the endangered long horned bees. We hope you come back to enjoy the area again soon.

One of my favourite places in Looe. It's easily reached from the cost path and the town. You get a great view of Looe island.
