Came here today with my partener had a little game on the oculus rift very welcoming staff and nice atmosphere. Has a downstairs that has a few older consoles with a good mixture of games available. The only downside is that more care needs to be taken downstairs as the was a binbag with old pizza boxes, looked a bit tired decor wise, the sofas looked like old hand me downs and very old TV sets with a bit of a revamp and sproose up would be a brilliant place. Could possibly recommend maybe a switch to pass between consoles and newer tvs to save on power! Though would love something like this locally. If it was in better condition probably would've stayed longer and spent more on drinks.

A place where you can visit and play on old and new computer games for free. There's beer and cider on tap, soft drinks and sweet treats to buy and then you can settle in and play to your heart's content. Great concept, however the one game we really wanted to play was out of order and when we ventured further into the bar it became clear that it was damp-ridden and hadn't seen a duster or vac for a long while. With a bit more TLC this could be a great place but for now, not for me.

I popped in with the wife early one evening after she spotted the sign outside. I already knew about the bar, so was keen to pay it a visit.

Upon entering the owner greeted us with a pleasant smile and asked us what we'd like to drink. I can't remember what my wife had but I went for the venue's own ale, which is a very tasty pale ale, and well kept.

You couldn't fault the hosting abilities of the owner. He was polite, friendly and keen to talk about all aspects of gaming. You can see he has a real passion, and that in itself made the visit worthwhile.

The venue itself spans two floors, so has masses of space. I'm sure it plays host to some fantastic events. I did feel the place needed a bit of TLC, though. The lower floor was in almost darkness and did smell damp. The other niggle is that everything could do with a real good dust!

System wise, modern gamers are well catered for with all three current gen systems. Retro gamers have access to a selection of retro platforms downstairs, plus three arcade machines on the ground floor. The machines were Point Blank, House of The Dead (can't remember which version) and a MAME cab.

I think the efforts of the 8bit staff should be applauded. They're really trying to make the venue a must visit place for gamers.

I'd have given 5 stars if the venue was cleaner, the downstairs looked tidier and had systems powered on ready for use, and if there were one or two more arcade cabs.

I look forward to seeing how the venue progresses, and hope to visit again in the future.

took my son in there to try out the new fifa franchise. it was a dismal. would not take him or anyone there ever again i recommend just buying yourself 400 pounds worth of console just so you don't have to sample the scent.

A true gamer's heaven, new tech, classic consoles, arcades, every choice of controller and own branding of beer, what's there not to like! I came in with my fella, he was chuffed. Went on the occulus rift, some ancient console I have no idea about and the arcades too. Really fun and sent me back to the old times.

They some great homemade brownies, sofa seating upstairs and down. Downstairs is a little more bachelor pad, but there's a real retro feel to it and I can believe there's a place like this near the seaside! Would love a place like this in the cities. Shame we couldn't stay for a quiz it, with cash prices and a round of beer, but very much enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it. The service was great, I had their own 8-bit beer which was very light and tasty!

this place is brilliant. from the old school games to the weird, brightly colored cocktails, to the fact you can go across the street and buy a burrito and bring it in for a drink discount, I cant fault them on anything. They also have a habenero tequila, which will blow your mind.

Skip over the original selling point of 8-Bit and you end up finding something magically deeper. You may enter with the humble desire to play games but what you find in a place like this is something intangibly pleasant, after a few hours you come to the conclusion that the overwhelming and enjoyable atmosphere is a result of the bars biggest accomplishment; community. Are you a Zelda fan? Mario perhaps? A passing observer with a maniac friend who came in to play the shiny G-Con machines? Well no matter what your preference, 8 bit has the entertainment, the booze and the conversation to provide you with a great time with the regulars of the place striving to their best of ability to make sure everyone, casual or not, feel comfortable. With events held on differing nights to cater to the different genres of gaming you can fulfil your needs for competitive play while paying a pittance to drown your sorrows! Could you ask for more?

We happened upon this place during a rainy day visit to Falmouth and ended up staying a while. It's not the snazziest looking place, and with no air con it was unfathomably hot even on a cool day. That being said, that's really the only negatives. All the staff were lovely helpful nerdy gamer types (and I mean that as a 100% compliment). We had cocktails at 2 for £8 and they were good. There was a wide range of people playing the consoles in there - from a 4 year old boy on donkey kong to some 45 year old men having a cider and a street fight battle.
All in all I would definitely go here again if I was in Falmouth.

Popped in on an evening out in Falmouth. Realised quite quickly that we were clearly 20 years too old to be in there, but had ordered drinks so stayed to have them. Our teenage son and younger son would have LOVED this place - a tournament was going on downstairs and a group of lads were enjoying a game of Streetfighter. We played on a couple of retro arcade games which was fun. To give the bar person credit - they couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming :)

Very friendly staff and good priced drinks make this a great place to hang out and mert friends for some games. Lots of retro games in the basement and current generation consoles upstairs. The place could do with a clean as other people have said but it doesn't detract from the place as a whole. Lots of fun.
