I've just come back from an amazing week in the Isles of Scilly with SKC. It was the 'Intromediate' course which was really excellent and pushed me to develop further with my sea kayaking skills. Shaun was awesome as our friendly and very knowledgeable guide who worked hard to make sure we saw as much of the islands as possible during our stay. Experiencing the beautiful Scilly Isles from the water is such a magical thing to do. I would really recommend a trip with SKC so that you can experience it too!

Being complete 'up for it' kayaking virgins (sea, river or canal) We did some research and read all the reviews on SKC and after a brief call with Shaun we knew we'd be in good hands.
In our minds we dreamt of kayaking in calm sun drenched serene waters whilst learning skills, seeing wildlife and falling in love with the Falmouth coast from the ocean......
How I chuckle at how different the reality was. The weather took a dramatic change the night before and we were met with winds upto 33mph/ Beaufort scale 6. This brand new activity was truly a ‘fight or flight’ experience for us! Shaun was our guide and we both felt completely safe the entire time. He is super calm, experienced and funny as hell!! We went out with 3 other experienced kayakers and due to their help, advice and patience we managed to stay afloat most of the time, and when we didn’t the party of 3 got to practice rough sea water rescues. During one of these rescues we even had a foot long fish fly out of the water to cheer us on!!
After stopping for lunch on a beautiful deserted little cove in the sun, we watched the weather slowly getting worse. After apx an hour of being back in the water I slowly but firmly fell into grips of seasickness. 🤢🤢 So sadly we had to abort, but again, our group got to practice long towing of our kayaks back to shore. Despite having to abort, we highly recommend you try kayaking as either a list ticking experience or a full time sport that you can travel the world with!
Thank you all again SKC (Shaun) from the bottom of our hearts for taking our sea kayaking cherries and for keeping us safe! Also to Ruth, Rachel and Matt and for being such a fantastic group of people who had so much faith in us and respected that we gave it damn good go!!

Back in 2019 I did an Intermediate Sea Kayaking course with these guys and loved every minute of it. So when I saw that there were spaces on a week-long trip to the Isles of Scilly (one of my favourite places in the UK) I had no hesitation in booking the week. It looked like a relatively expensive week once I factored in the cost of ferry crossings, parking, camping etc, but not outrageous and if Shaun and his assistant lived up to my expectations it would be money well spent.
I have been back from the trip for a bit over a week now and am still buzzing from the experience. Shaun and James did not live up to my expectations, they exceeded them in every way.
The weather was fairly kind to us, but we did have some lumpy water outside the islands a couple of times that prevented us from completing the planned paddle, however, the guys gave those of us who wanted to experience the big seas a chance to stick out noses out (under unobtrusive but close supervision) for a taster while leaving the more sensible (less stupid???) members of the group ashore to enjoy some of the island charm. This splitting of the group demonstrated one of the exceptional skills that Shaun brought; he was able to separate the gung-ho go for it types from the “I’m here to enjoy myself; not drown” members of the group without creating any peer pressure to try something that was beyond the comfort zone of individuals or causing people to feel guilty for putting other group members on the spot.
Thinking back on the week there were several occasions where I wondered why we were being told to do certain things, but now realise that it was just the subtle way that Shaun kept us all close to one another without having to nags us. (I bet nobody who has met Shaun expected to see him described as subtle 😊)
In summary:
• The paddling was superb,
• The set up on the island was near perfect (perhaps get a moving staircase installed to save walking up the hill to the campsite?),
• The boats loaned to us were varied, so there were suitable boats for all and
• The leadership on the water was second to none.
Now all I need to do is work out when I can get out with these guys again. I can’t wait.

My wife and I met Geoff Cater for a bespoke 2-day guide/instruct/tryout and it was awesome. Geoff is so experienced and knowledgeable, modest too and we could not have been more grateful for his coaching and wisdom. The kit was fantastic, good quality and a good fleet of kayaks more than adequately catering for our needs. We paddled to some great locations and most definitely up-skilled in a really short time. Best of all we left more confident and appetites fully whetted to do more as soon as possible!
Contact, discussing and arranging the trip was superb with Shaun and Geoff.
We also enjoyed spending some time with the very adept James on the second day.
Thanks guys!

I'm just back from another great few days on the advanced course with Shaun, Geoff and Paul. Everytime you spend time with SKC you build knowledge and skills at a pace that works for you with great intuitive coaching. Day 1 on rescues with Geoff to brush off your skills, planning and journeying with skills and leadership day 2 and surf day 3. Although I'm fairly paddle proficient, surf is not my thing, and certainly not advanced but Shaun and Paul were great, with just the right support at the right moment you can still be smiling after a very wet day. (Thanks to Julie too!) This year will be my 3rd year on the Kefalonia expedition and looking forward to the Women's symposium too. Can't wait to get back. Thanks guys!

Just back from my 3rd tour of Kefalonia in September and have fallen in love all over again! This 6 day exped is never the same and neither are the conditions which, despite our idea of the Med, can be challenging. There were beautiful moments of calm crystal clear water, sun drenched beaches and moonlight campsites but this is an exped so we also faced lumpy sea conditions, unrelenting F3-5 winds, long paddles and storms: it's truly an adventure of contrasts. What is consistent however is the level of care, professionalism, and decision making of our guide Shaun and his support Paul (thanks for fishing me out!) These guys make it a super fun trip and you know you are always in good hands. I've already made space in my 2021 diary for at least 1 September week. Maybe I should try April too?!

I really enjoyed the Advanced Jouneys provided as part of the 2021 Sea Kayaking Cornwall Symposium. The journey on Sunday from Poldhu Cove to Lizard and back is probably not something that I would have done as a peer paddle at my current level and I appreciated having the 1 to 5 coach:participant ratio for going through narrow water features. I also thoroughly enjoyed the hard paddle back into F3-4 to get back to Poldhu Cove.
I thought that the whole Symposium was extremely well organised with great ratios of coach to participant and the opportunity for me not to stretch myself when I had not desire to do so. I found the pleasant and amiable manner of the Sea Kayaking Cornwall staff a pleasure to be around. I was really impressed that Geoff was able to call me by my name every time he passed me with something like 80 participants on the Symposium. How does he do that. I have been to another symposium with much larger ratios and i would not repeat that experience. I would go to the Sea Kayaking Cornwall Sympsium again another year.

I’ve recently completed a week’s guided exploration of Moidart and Arisaig Sound and it’s sea lochs, guided by Shaun Roger’s of SKC.
Our original destination was to go exploring the Small Islands. Unfortunately the winds where high and rising so cutting off our windows of opportunity to paddle out /back.
SKC place safety as paramount and non of our group ( all upper intermediate paddlers) had any issue with the change of plan. Instead, under the superb guidance of Shaun Rogers, we still got to paddle a new venue every day, with suitable sea conditions making aspects of our daily paddles exciting.
Seakayaking Cornwall is a superb company who place the upmost importance on their clients safety and full satisfaction in whatever they deliver. I’ve been with them several times and will book again with is excellent company.
Try SKC out. Yiy won’t ever be disappointed!

Just returned from an awesome 2 weeks of paddling in Mull and the Small Isles (2 separate journeys). The weather was unpredictable and internet coverage (for forecasts) almost non-existent, but Shaun Rogers got the very best out of the group and showed of some gems of the North West Scottish coast and wildlife - otters, sea & golden eagles, seals, many birds and dolphins, which came over and took a keen interest in us.
Each day offered something different but always varied and interesting within what was possible with the conditions that changed from headland to headland

I am a returning customer and have been for several years now, this time it was a week long Advanced Sea Kayaking course and BC Sea Kayak Leader Training all provide by Sea Kayaking Cornwall.
Once again personal development was provided by James for our ‘international’ group.
The mornings always started with discussion on locations linked to the weather and decision making before moving of and working on the days aims.
A great week of steady development with all abilities catered for. Advancing as the week progressed in line with the weather to allow all to sit in the stretch zone and push all paddlers to develop, along with outstanding scenery, scenarios and humour.
Excellent week, very tired, but learnt loads and looking forward to putting those new skills into practice.
