Overview
More
The award winning Falmouth Art Gallery is family friendly and free. The gallery has a vibrant and ambitious exhibitions programme. It usually stages thematic shows featuring selected works from the gallery’s collection hung alongside loans from artists, museum collections and private lenders. This means that the three exhibition rooms are constantly changing and there is always something new and exciting to enjoy. The gallery cares for an outstanding collection of over 2000 artworks that includes 19th and 20th century master painting, British Impressionist paintings, the RCPS Tuke Collection, contemporary prints, photography, automata and a children’s illustration archive. All works can be viewed on the gallery's website. Most of the collection is housed in the art stores so if you wish to see a work that is not on display please ask at the desk for a store visit. This can normally be arranged on the day but please call ahead if you are making a special visit.

We looked in on a quiet Monday morning in May, hoping to spend a pleasant hour or two out of the freezing wind. The rooms (you could hardly call them galleries) certainly had pictures on the walls, but we didn't stay to look as some...More

Near the bottom of town in Falmouth, this small gallery is above the town library. Given its restricted size it has three display areas, each attempting to show a different collection of exhibits. I enjoyed the display of Cornish portraits, but the first room didn't...More

A great place to visit whether fine or dull. Really helpful knowledgeable staff who are passionate about their collection. You come away feeling inspired.

Something of a disappointment. The pre-raphaelite portrait, and others, shown on their PR info, like the one trip adviser uses were not on show, without any explanation. Amongst their key exhibits, but not there. Would not make a hasty return!

I'd been to Falmouth twice before to find this gallery - its not hidden; just not clearly signed from the main street. It was worth the effort - not a large collection; but well worth seeing - especially the portraits.

Saw exhibition of Cornish faces - puts people into the places. Easy to find gallery, just above main tourist streets and lots to see here. Touring Arts Council exhibition was a bit challenging but good to have variety to see. Friendly welcome and lots of...More

This Gallery has always been good, but it has been transformed (for the better!) since Henrietta took charge. Interesting exhibitions imaginatively and informatively presented, - not an easy achievement in the limited space available.

Thought we were going to see old Cornish masters but it was all modern and seemed to be a competition some of which was signed as being disturbing so take note. Shame really but maybe those are out on another occasion

The website implies that you'll get to see some at least of their main collection including Cornish artists / subjects such as John Singer Sargent and Henry Scott Tuke (which look lovely) but all that was on view were from the current special exhibition Imagine...More
