- AndyBIlfracombe, United Kingdom26 contributionsGreat museumExcellent museum telling the story of a proud county regiment through the ages. Particularly magnificent medal collection including several VC’s and of particular note the Scinde campaign section under that remarkable General Sir Charles James Napier and the WW1 and WW2 period inc a pen used during the surrender of the Japanese forces. Well worth a visit and to put several hours aside.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 28, 2023
- JanChester, United Kingdom57 contributionsHighly recommended. Make sure you go here during your visit to ChesterA highly enjoyable visit to Cheshire Military Museum by a group from Chester Business Club on 8/11/23. Friendly informative staff. Very interesting artefacts on display. I particularly enjoyed walking through time: a well organised collection that lead me from the creation of the Cheshire Military regiment, through the wars, through The Troubles, to present day. There’s lots to see here - give yourself plenty of time to browse through these poignant moments in history brought to life in this display. A very special museum in Chester - highly recommended for all ages. I’ll definitely be going again soon with my family.Visited November 2023Traveled on businessWritten November 10, 2023

From the early days of the Cheshire Regiment, right up to the present day. Wander outside as there is more to see. Toilet facilities and a small gift shop. We paid £3 entrance fee, it was well worth it.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 17, 2024

Well worth a visit if you are in Chester. A fascinating history of the Cheshire Regiment and the many campaigns around the world in which it took part. Lots of military medals on display including the Victoria Cross along with many stories of bravery sacrifice and heart wrenching letters from both sides of war. You leave the museum with a sense of pride at the many sacrifices made by the Men and Women of the Cheshire Regiment so we can continue to enjoy the freedoms we take for granted today.

If you are really interested in the military or military history, this museum is highly recommendable. You will learn a lot about the military in the 17th century, during the World Wars and up to modern times. You will get to learn about the stories and the lifes of the soldiers.

What a lovely visit to the colourful Military Museum at Chester. We did get some concessions with being OAPs and having young grandchildren. The staff were very informative captivating our youngsters with all sorts of stories. Well worth the visit and we all enjoyed the experience.

Two ladies on a mission we visited the Musuem not sure if it was our thing, how wrong can you be, we had a thoroughly enjoyable visit. I was interest in attending as a family member served with the 8th Btn in the First World War and lost his life in Basra in 1917. So many wonderful exhbits to see, the medals and letters were amazing and pulled at the heart strings. Travelling through the centuries of the Chehire regiment we found so many interesting things. Loved the interactive sections and the dugout. We spent 2 hours there and will definitely visit again. The gifts for sale were also responably priced. The staff were extremely helpful and informative. Came home with a ration book and a World War one Cookbook and a much better understanding of our brave soldiers. Will be bringing other family members to visit.

Really impressive military museum focusing on Cheshire and the Cheshire regiment but also the wider British Army. Huge array of medals and memorabilia including 2 Victoria cross medals. Lots of recent/last 10/20 years exhibits which you don’t always see, very Interesting.

Visited the museum whilst in Chester. I am not massively interested in military history but I still found it a very informative place. Very reasonably priced at £4, less for concessions. Staff very friendly & welcoming. We were there approx 1 hour & had a good look round in that time. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

Sorry, have just seen this - they've never had any problems letting my dog in, so I'd say they'd be happy to have your dog look round
