Booked a national express day return manchester to Chester, for me and my 10yr old grandaughter.. Journey was about 1hr40. Good journey, the journey took stops at Manchester airport, Cheshire oaks and then on to Chester. Bus station is just a minute from the Main Street, which is the gateway to all Chester amenities. Information centre is just round the... More

We walked along the river on one side then crossed at the iron bridge and walked the far side before heading for the City Walls - this is a lovely walk, lots to see and very scenic.

The old river still provides a relaxing afternoon, feeding the swans and ducks or just nostalgically looking on.

Took a stroll down to the river on a sunny Saturday lunchtime during a weekend break to Chester. Having been on a couple of previous occasions, I have to say I was sadly disappointed with the cleanliness and general housekeeping of the area.
