We have visited Chester a number of times but this is the first time we have walked the walls. Lots of lovely photo opportunities even in January!

In my opinion walking the walls is a great way to see the city from a low flying birds perspective. The walls pass by all the main historical sites and thanks to local business Big Heritage the towers have been opened with small exhibitions inside this year. Sadly the bookshops along the top have all but gone, but hopefully will... More

Our boys really enjoyed walking the walls and exploring the city. The high vantage point and views are splendid.

The wall in Chester is different to others like York, as they are an integral part of how people use the city instead of just something maintained for the tourists. Use them to cross roads, squish restaurants and residences up against them...it's really cool how they are part of the town fabric.

The history of Chester can be seen throughout your walk along the walls. You pass many of the main attractions including the castle, raceground, cathedral, and many architectural points of interest. We walked quite leisurely, but it would be a great place for a jog too. They have information boards set up along the walls telling you about what you're... More

Only worth seeing Eastgate and walking to Northgate as some cute shops and restaurants in-between. Other side not really a lot to see.

From the tourist information centre we went on a Roman walk tour guide Ms Varney. The tour last about 105 minutes going from the city centre to around the wall down to the river Dee and back to the centre.Giving dates and events that make the city history in a relaxed informal way not a barrage of dates .£7 for adults... A lovely experience to walk the city walls. Chester is full of History. The shopping experience is brilliant. Also plenty of charity shops if you like doing them. The river area is very nice with Grosvenor park too! Have previously been to the Zoo which was good in the past, not sure now, will visit soon.

After breakfast me and my girlfriend decided a walk was needed to set us off for the day ahead. We decided on doing the walls of Chester which circulated the town centre. We joined the wall near the mill and spa hotel which is situated on the canal. The walls themselves are in pretty good condition thanks to preservation groups... More
