Toured the walls as part of a standard walk from Internet and would recommend some parts of limits as re building being undertaken but some of the views by the racecourse really lovely. Have to be relatively fit though as some steep stairs but worth it.

An enjoyable day out for anyone visiting Chester and a must-do for newbies to Chester. At peak times, it can be difficult to pass tourists taking pictures but on quieter days you can take a stroll down and go at your own pace. Lovely way to see the city and take in the amazing history of the city.

It seems fatuous to review one the greatest historical survivals in Britain. The walls have been maintained since the Romans built them to protect the great military base guarding routes into the Cheshire plain and North Wales. They are much changed but you can still pretty much complete circuit enjoying excellent views across the city dominated by the Cathedral and... More

The walls surrounding the central part of Chester are a great way to look around the city. You have the option of getting on/off them at regular points to do sightseeing, shopping or just have a break. The walls themselves have fixed information points explaining the specific area you are on. The new King Charles tower audio point was informative... More

What an interesting city to walk around, so much history at every turn with the old and modern blended together especially on a sunny day like we had it was magical.

Spend a cost-free morning walking around the town walls. Lots of interesting historical information displayed on boards en-route + some interactive audio presentations

Brilliant. I can only describe this as walls. They are big and you can either walk on them or look at them. I love walls of any type so this is a perfect attraction for me.

Closest we've had to Dubrovnik, better than York and well worth the effot. Despite the walk coming on and off in a couple of places this gives you areally good feel for the City and some wonderful sights along the way. Beautiful city with fantastic architecture. Advice to park just outside city as Grosvenor carpark is very expensive. (£10 /day)

Lovely way to see Chester if you like history and walking. Then end the day with a picnic by the river Dee.

Well worth spending half a day walking the walls. The walk takes you round the city, along side the River Dee at one stage, and a view of a famous battle further on. The walls have good stopping points of interests and also 'brass rubbing plates' to keep the kids interested.
