What a great walk only 2 miles, not wheelchair friendly. This is a great free walk with history boards on the walls

We walked the full distance around the walls. You get a real sense of the history from roman times to the present day. You can then decide which of the sites you see to visit in more depth.

A romantic way to walk around Chester and see it from above. The Cathedral, the amphitheatre, the clock are only a few of the things you will be able to see!

Sorry for the delay in replying. The wall is free and open at all times. No guided tour but plaques explaining local sights and information at various points along the wall. The castle keep is free to to look around.

Walls of Theodosius (2 Replies)
We would like to walk a portion of the Walls of Theodosius - but will not have time to walk it all. Which sections do you recommend we walk, with best views and location and where are they located, and how to get there by public transportation. We'll be walking the walls in mid-May!!Thanks

Hi I am travelling to Ireland in July with my 3 kids, aged 19 ( experienced traveller /backpacker), 13 and 8. Husband also will be with us for the first week. All kids have done a lot of travel ( Asia Pacific) and driving holidays in Tasmania- windy narrow roads and New Zealand (3 week driving around both islands) . I also lived in Cornwall ( UK) l so am used to the walled hedges along narrow roads. Will want to avoid motorways when we can. We live in a very beautiful part of Tasmania(...More

Thanks for this - will definitely head to Curragh as well. Can see some heavy expenditure occurring at the tack shop! Have booked Ardmore so all good - yes should have researched more to be there for the Ardome pattern, but will be in UK by then.
