Another great example of architecture sending a message. More than merely "form follows function" we have the architect telling us that this is an age of stability, of growth, that "all's right with the world". You can get up close and examine the exterior detail - no sparing of expense here.

We visited the town hall on 3/6/22 they had a free Royal Jubilee exhibition on.
It was lovely looking at all the Queens photos throughout her reign.
You can go in the court house and there is some stunning art work.
We enjoyed our unexpected visit.

Chester Town Hall is near the Cathedral, the tower has room for four clock faces but only has them on three sides, not the side facing West towards Wales which is strange.

THis was our first visit to the city of Chester and we had been recommended to see the town hall but someone on the door said there was no access for the public due to Covid!! I find this hard to believe when the Cathedral and the churches are all open as is every other venue. Think it gives a bad vibe.

The building looks almost German in appearance, but stands out proudly against the many Tudor style buildings in the area.

The town hall is a very attractive building very close to the cathedral. It was built in the mid nineteenth century.

Nice Gothic palace built in the XIX century in sandstone. It's located in Northgate street, in the middle of the old town. Locals couples are celebrate civil marriages.

We were told that the Town Hall was worth a visit if it was open to the public so, finding it open, we went in. Entry is free. It was indeed an interesting 19th century building well worth exploring. There is attractive stained glass, a fine staircase, with a central chandelier. Quite a few rooms are open to the public. I'm not sure if you were meant to look in the Lord Mayor's Parlour but, since the door was slightly open, I looked in and took a picture. The Council Chamber is a fine room but our surprise was a display associated with a visit of the Queen and Meghan to the Town Hall on 14 June 2018 when they had lunch there. On display were several pictures of them in the Town Hall and a book signed by Elizabeth R and Meghan. All this made our visit a bit more special.

Another of Chester's historic places that likes having it's photo taken, with very good scenes around it.
